Russo <br /> City Manager <br /> City of Sunny Isles Beach <br /> 18070 Collins Avenue <br /> Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160 <br /> RE: Findings & Recommendations Related to the Inntracoastal Park <br /> Seawall Repair/Replacement <br /> Dear Mr..RussO, <br /> Per your request; below you will find a timeline of events, a summary of our <br /> findings and a summary of recommendations related to the North Intracoastal <br /> Park seawall repairs/replacement at Intracoastal Park in Sunny Isles Beach, FL. <br /> Building Code Services <br /> Coastal'Engineering <br /> Code•Enforceme.nt <br /> Construction Engineering& INTRACOASTAL PARK NORTH <br /> Inspection <br /> Construction Services- <br /> CGA was requested by the City to take a look at the wall along Intracoastal Park <br /> Contract Government <br /> Data Technologies& <br /> North to see if similar conditions existed that might cause a subsequent failure; <br /> Development and if any repairs could be made to mitigate this risk. At the time of the City's <br /> Emergency Management request.there was:no.equipment available to perform subsurface excavations for <br /> Services <br /> investigating the exact seawall configuration or condition. In lieu of excavation <br /> Engineering <br /> Governmental services. for investigating, CGA requested as built drawings showing the date; material <br /> Indoor Air Quality and- construction, of the seawall. The City confirmed that as built or permit. <br /> Landscape Architecture& drawings were not available for either seawall. The team was directed,to focus <br /> Environmental services on the einei-gency repair and obtaining the emergency permits. Once this task <br /> Municipal Engineering ,; <br /> Planning <br /> was accomplished the City performed excavations approximately 8 deep in the <br /> Public Administration location of the-horizontal tie backs only in an effort to determine the current <br /> Redevelopmcni A-Urban conditions of the tie backs. <br /> Design <br /> Renewable Energy Starting from the Poinciana Drive Bridge and moving northward, the first <br /> Resort-:Development <br /> Surveying&Mapping <br /> portion of seawall in the North Park is comprised of approximately 215 feet of <br /> Transportation panning. concrete panels with T-piles. This wall is supported via tiebacks in the cap. The <br /> Traffic Engineering City's excavations showed that the majority of the tie backs were in critical <br /> trinity_&Community condition or complete failure. The remaining 250 feet of wall to the north is <br /> Maintenance-Services <br /> Water Resources Management steel sheet pile which is corroded and spalling.
