Webb Management Services Inc. 8
work plan (continued)
key issues: Synthesize all of this research and analysis in order to identify key issues
facing the arts and culture in Sunny Isles Beach. Discuss gaps and needs on the part of
residents, visitors, artists, creative entrepreneurs, cultural organizations, City programs
and support mechanisms, and other members of the cultural sector.
part one report: Develop and deliver a ‘situation analysis’ that describes the state of
arts and culture in Sunny Isles Beach, including all of the work described above. Share this
work with the community and collect input.
part two: visioning
SWOT workshop: Come together with City representatives, Sunny Isles Beach
Foundation leadership, and cultural community leadership to review the internal and
external analyses. Lead the team through an exercise that develops a SWOT (strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis to ultimately identify a series of themes
and guiding principles to drive cultural development in Sunny Isles Beach.
preliminary vision + goals: Define goals and objectives to guide cultural development
in Sunny Isles Beach for the next five years, addressing such issues as community access
to the arts, the support of artists and cultural organizations, economic development
through the arts, impacts on arts education, and otherwise.
programming opportunities: Based on the Needs Analysis and SWOT workshop,
identify a long list of program opportunities, including strategies to foster strength in the
arts sector, increase public support for and participation in arts programming, inspire
collaboration among arts and private partners, and other ways to actively engage residents
and promote economic development.
facility + placemaking priorities: Based on the analysis described above, provide
conclusions and recommendations around facility and capital improvements and the
development of spaces necessary to advance cultural development in the short, medium,
and long term. If appropriate, describe potential facility and placemaking projects,
including detail on key components, and levels of flexibility and activity to be supported.
Then, prioritize recommendatons in terms of demand and supply issues and the broader
goals of the community.
policy + funding needs: Finally, make recommendations on the development of policy
and strategies for the further development of the arts in Sunny Isles Beach, including the
development and operation of programs and facilities, the use of City and outside staff,
economic development strategies, and the search for funding to develop and sustain
cultural activities and creative spaces.
