 22   <br />REFERENCES   <br />   <br />A.  City  of  Lawrence,  Kansas  -­‐  Building  on  Lawrence’s  Creative  Capital:  A  City-­‐Wide  Cultural   <br />Plan   <br />   <br />This  was  the  City  of  Lawrence’s  first  ever  city-­‐wide  cultural  plan  and  they  defined  their  goals  as   <br />a)  documenting  Lawrence’s  cultural  assets,  b)  defining  cultural  priorities,  c)  recommending   <br />strategies  and  tools  which  the  City  could  provide  to  support  efforts  of  the  community  to   <br />accomplish  those  priorities  and  enhance  the  climate  for  the  creative  sector  to  thrive,  and  d)   <br />provide  recommendations  for  integrating  public  infrastructure  and  other  civic  projects  within   <br />the  goals  of  the  plan.     <br />   <br />We  worked  with  a  fifteen  member  Steering  Committee  and  the  City  Director  of  Arts  and   <br />Culture,  and  spent  time  in  the  community  over  four  visits.   <br />   <br />Team:  Christine  Harris  (project  manager),  Tom  Borrup  (planner),  Peter  Musty  (designer)   <br />   <br />Contract:  February  –  August  2015   <br />   <br />Services:  Inventory  analysis  and  assessment  of  community  needs  including  preparation  of  an   <br />online-­‐ready  creative  community  asset  inventory;  development  of  vision,  values,  goals  and   <br />action  plan  which  included  a  comprehensive  implementation  matrix;  transparent  community   <br />engagement  with  facilitated  public  meetings  and  an  online  public  survey;  and  City  of  Lawrence   <br />commission  approval.   <br />   <br />Agency  of  Record:     <br />City  of  Lawrence   <br />Porter  Arneill,  City  Director  of  Arts  and  Culture   <br />City  Manager’s  Office   <br />P.O.  Box  708   <br />Lawrence,  KS    66044   <br />parneill@lawrenceks.org   <br />785-­‐832-­‐3402   <br />   <br />B.  Hennepin  Theatre  Trust,  Minneapolis,  MN:  Plan-­‐It  Hennepin  –  A  Cultural  District  for   <br />Downtown  Minneapolis     <br />   <br />Funded  by  an  Our  Town  grant  from  the  National  Endowment  for  the  Arts,  the  City  of   <br />Minneapolis,  and  private  donors,  this  16-­‐month  planning  and  street-­‐level  animation  project   <br />included  conversations  with  urban  visionaries  and  public  workshops  to  develop  and  define  a   <br />vision  for  a  Hennepin  Cultural  District.  The  District  includes  parallel  and  intersecting  streets   <br />surrounding  Hennepin  Avenue’s  two-­‐mile  stretch  from  the  Mississippi  River  to  the  Walker  Art   <br />Center/Minneapolis  Sculpture  Garden.  With  the  goal  for  Downtown  residential  population  to
