Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting September 17, 2015 City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br />10M. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Expressing <br />Support for the American Jewish Committee's Mayors United Against Anti - Semitism <br />Initiative; Authorizing the City Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this <br />Resolution: Providing for an Effective Date. <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Mayor Scholl reported. <br />Public Speakers: None <br />Commissioner Levin moved and Commissioner Goldman seconded a motion to approve <br />the resolution. Resolution No. 2015 -2463 was adopted by a voice vote of 5 -0 in favor. <br />ION. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Renewing <br />Resolution No. 2010 -1594 to Create a Committee Entitled "Audit Committee "; <br />Providing for the Appointment of Committee Members to Include a Chairperson: Providing <br />for the Selection of Committee Members; Providing for an Effective Date. <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and City Manager Russo reported noting this is a <br />State requirement. Our Audit contract is up; and this is the Committee that will be made up <br />of the City Manager, the Finance Director, and the Assistant Finance Director. <br />Public Speakers: None <br />Commissioner Aelion moved and Vice Mayor Gatto seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2015 -2464 was adopted by a voice vote of 5 -0 in favor. <br />11. MOTIONS <br />Alone <br />12. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />12A. A Discussion regarding a Future Rental Program for the Performance Stage at <br />Gateway Park. <br />Action: Commissioner Levin said when we had our recent Budget Workshop the Mayor <br />had mentioned the potential to possibly lease Gateway Park and the stage at Gateway Park to <br />outside event holders, and the City would obviously cam revenue from it. Other than that <br />there has not been a discussion. If we decide that we are going to do that than the <br />Commission will need to meet and adopt a policy. She would like to reach out to the <br />community and ask people for their comments and suggestions. <br />Mayor Scholl said he thinks it is a staff - driven issue, we are giving the staff our philosophical <br />guidance saying that we can augment all our cultural events by opening to outsiders. The <br />idea is we have a more robust than we need there with the parking garage, a professional <br />stage. etc. As opposed to Cultural and Community Services Director Susan Simpson having <br />to produce everything the City does going forward, if an outside company comes along and <br />17 <br />
