Summary Minutes: Regular City Commission Meeting September 17, 2015 City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida <br />Commissioner Aelion moved and Vice Mayor Gatto seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution, as amended. Resolution No. 2015 -2460 was adopted by a voice vote of 5 -0 in <br />favor. <br />City Manager Russo said after these couple of items that were Public Works related and with <br />Elka Linston- Dorsett it was Capital related, he has to say over the past month or more; <br />between Elka on Capital Projects; Debi Lima who is here from the Public Works Department <br />who works both on Capital and Public Works, and Rob Williamson our Public Works <br />Foreman, they are doing a fantastic job in everything we have had to do in Public Works and <br />Capital Projects. <br />I OK. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Authorizing <br />the City to Participate in "The Prestige Educational and Cultural Events on the <br />Biscayne Bay Campus Series 2015-2016"; Authorizing a Charitable Contribution to the <br />Biscayne Bay Campus of Florida International University (FIU), in the Amount of <br />55,000.00; Authorizing the City Manager to Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate this <br />Resolution; Providing for an Effective Date. <br />Action: City Clerk Hines read the title, and Cultural and Community Services Director <br />Susan Simpson reported, and introduced FIU Vice Provost Steven V. Moll, who is taking <br />over the Prestige Cultural Series this year. <br />Public Speakers: Steven V. Moll <br />Steven Moll said last year the Prestige Cultural Series was a four -event series, and this year <br />they are expanding it, and they already have nine (9) events this semester and they will have <br />another 8 or 9 next semester. The Sunny Isles Beach residents do get discounts to some of <br />the events. The City of Sunny Isles Beach is the number one City supporting the Series and <br />they appreciate the partnership that we have. <br />Commissioner Levin moved and Vice Mayor Gatto seconded a motion to approve the <br />resolution. Resolution No. 2015 -2461 was adopted by a voice vote of 5 -0 in favor. <br />IOL.
