Section Includes: Protection of existing trees and plants from damage because of Contractor’s <br />operations including, but not limited to: <br />1. Protection of existing natural woodlands. <br />2. Marking of clearing limits. <br />3. Vegetation protective signage. <br />4. Tree mass protection fencing. <br />5. Individual tree protection fencing. <br />6. Root pruning, construction pruning, and root protection. <br /> <br />B. Related Sections: <br />1. 02200 - Earthwork <br />2. 02950 – Trees, Plants and Groundcovers <br /> <br />1.02 <br /> <br />SUBMITTALS: <br />A. Proposed methods and schedule for tree and plant protection. <br /> <br />B. Proposed methods, materials, and schedule for root pruning, construction pruning, and tree <br />fertilization. <br /> <br />1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> <br />: <br />A. Comply with the most stringent applicable requirements of the following standards. <br />1. American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Zl33.1 - Safety Requirements for Pruning, <br />Trimming, Repairing, Maintaining and Removing Trees, and for Cutting Brush. <br />2. International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) - Guide for Establishing Values of Trees and <br />Other Plants. <br />3. National Arborist Association (NAA) - Ref.1, Pruning Standards for Shade Trees. <br />4. International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) - Construction Management Guidelines. <br /> <br />B. Damaged Trees/Palms: <br />1. Trees scheduled to remain that are damaged during construction shall be replaced with <br />the canopy equivalency of the damaged tree at no expense to the City. Refer to the end of <br />this section for tree replacement form and acceptable replacement plant list. <br />a. Shrubs scheduled to remain that are damaged during construction shall be <br />replaced at no cost to the Owner. Replacements shall be of the same species and <br />variety as determined by the A/E. The total inch diameter of the replacement <br />shrubs shall be equal to the diameter of the shrubs to be replaced. <br /> <br />2. Do not store construction materials, debris or excavated material within drip line of <br />existing trees to remain. <br />3.
