Identification of plant names shall be as in Hortus Third. <br /> <br /> B. Selection of plant materials <br />1. Contractor shall submit to the Landscape Architect the names and locations of nurseries <br />proposed as sources of acceptable plant material, and inspect all nursery materials to <br />determine that the materials meet the requirements of this Section. Proposed materials <br />shall be flagged at the nurseries by the Contractor prior to viewing by the Landscape <br />Architect. <br />2. Contractor shall schedule with the Landscape Architect a time for viewing plant material <br />at the nursery. Trips to nurseries shall be efficiently arranged to allow Landscape <br />Architect to maximize his/her viewing time. A minimum of six weeks shall be allowed <br />for this viewing prior to the time that the plants are to be dug. <br /> a. The Landscape Architect shall make up to two planting selection trips in connection <br />with the work specified in this Contract. <br /> <br />SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL: <br />b. Costs of any subsequent plant selection trips shall be borne entirely by the <br />Contractor. The cost of a planting materials selection trip shall include <br />reimbursable expenses such as the cost of transportation, meals, lodging and all <br />other ordinary and necessary costs associated with plant selection. The cost shall <br />also include inspection time to be charged at the rate of $85.00/hour. The <br />Contractor shall be billed for these expenses for each additional trip the Landscape <br />Architect must make in order to secure acceptable plant materials in conformance <br />with the requirements of this specification. <br />3. Landscape Architect may choose to attach his seal to each plant, or representative <br />samples. <br />4. Where requested by the Landscape Architect, photographs of plant material or <br />representative samples of plants shall be submitted. <br />5. Viewing and/or sealing of plant materials by the Landscape Architect at the nursery does <br />not preclude the Landscape Architect’s right to reject material at the site of planting. <br /> <br />C. Permits and Fees: Obtain all permits and pay required fees to any governmental agency having <br />jurisdiction over the work. Inspection required by local ordinances during the course of the work <br />shall be arranged as required. <br /> <br />1.09 <br /> <br /> A. Before changes or substitutions can be made due to unavailability of plant material, Contractor <br />shall submit satisfactory evidence that he/she has advertised for one month in a trade journal such <br />as the "Landscape Information Services", with no response, or has undertaken other methods of <br />locating plant material satisfactory to the Landscape Architect. The Landscape Architect shall <br />approve all substitutions before they are delivered and installed. DO NOT DELIVER AND <br />INSTALL ANY MATERIAL, WHICH IS ANTICIPATED TO BE A SUBSTITUTE, BEFORE <br />IT HAS BEEN SUBMITTED IN WRITING AND APPROVED AS A SUBSTITUTE BY THE <br />LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT. <br /> <br />UNAVAILABILITY OF PLANT MATERIAL: <br />1.10 <br /> <br /> A. Digging Plant Material <br />1. Plants shall not be dug at the nursery or approved source until the Contractor is ready to <br />transport them from their original locations to the site of the work or acceptable storage <br />location. <br /> 2. Root-pruning of field-grown or collected plants shall be performed at least 4 to 6 weeks <br />prior to digging, as determined by industry standards for that species. <br /> <br />DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING:
