SAMSON OCEANFRONT PARK <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS <br /> <br />CONCRETE REINFORCEMENT 03200-3 <br /> <br />accordance with ACI 318, paragraph 7.5, Placing Reinforcement and the CRSI Manual of Standard <br />Practices. <br />C. Tie wires shall be bent away from the forms in order to provide the required concrete coverage. <br />D. Bars additional to those indicated which may be found necessary or desirable by the CONTRACTOR <br />for the purpose of securing reinforcement in position shall be provided by the CONTRACTOR at its <br />own expense. <br />E. Additional Reinforcement Around Openings: <br />1. Place an equivalent area of steel around pipe or opening and extend on each side and top and <br />bottom sufficiently to develop bond in each bar. <br />2. Refer to details on Drawings for bar extension length on each side of opening. <br />3. Where welded wire fabric is used, provide extra reinforcing using fabric or deformed bars. <br />F. Unless otherwise indicated, reinforcement placing tolerances shall be within the limits in Section 7.5 of <br />ACI 318 except where in conflict with the requirements of the Building Code. <br />G. Bars may be moved as necessary to avoid interference with other reinforcement steel continuously <br />across the entire width of the reinforcement mat, and shall support the reinforcement mat in the plane <br />indicated. <br />H. Welded wire fabric placed over the ground shall be supported on wired concrete blocks (dobies) <br />spaced not more than 3 feet on centers in any direction. Welded wire fabric shall not be placed on the <br />ground and hooked into place in the freshly placed concrete. <br />3.02 CONCRETE COVER: <br />A. The concrete cover over reinforcement shall conform to ACI 318, paragraph 7.7, Concrete Protection <br />for Reinforcement, unless otherwise indicated. Tie wires shall be bent away from the forms in order to <br />provide the required concrete coverage. <br />3.03 SPLICING <br />A. All lap splices of bar reinforcement shall be as indicated and conform to Chapter 12 of ACI 318 or as <br />otherwise approved by the Engineer. Unless otherwise indicated, dowels shall match the size and <br />spacing of the spliced bar. <br />B. Laps of welded wire fabric shall be in accordance with ACI 318. Adjoining sheets shall be securely <br />tied together with No. 14 tie wire, one tie for each two running feet. Wires shall be staggered and tied <br />in such a manner that they cannot slip. <br />C. Splices in column spiral reinforcement, when necessary, shall be made by a lap of 1-1/2 turns. <br />D. Reinforcing shall not be straightened or rebent in a manner which will injure the material. Bars shall <br />be bent or straight as indicated. Do not use bends different from the bends indicated. Bars shall be <br />bent cold, unless otherwise permitted by the ENGINEER. No bars partially embedded in concrete <br />shall be field-bent except as indicated or specifically permitted by the ENGINEER.
