SAMSON OCEANFRONT PARK <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS <br /> <br />CAST -IN-PLACE CONCRETE 03300-3 <br /> <br />2.04 <br /> <br />CONCRETE MIX: <br />A. Mix concrete in accordance with ACI 304. Deliver concrete in accordance with ASTM C94. <br /> <br />B. Provide concrete to the following mix design: <br />Unit Measurement <br />Compressive Strength (7 day) 3,000 psi Compressive Strength (28 day) 5,000 psi <br />Water/Cement Ratio (maximum) 0.40 by weight Aggregate Size (maximum) 3/8 inch <br />Air Entrained 4 percent <br />Admixture ASTM C-260 <br />Admixture ASTM C-494,B/D Admixture ASTM C-494,A/F Corrosion Inhibitor As <br />recommended Micro silica Content 75 Ibs./yd. Slump- Plus or minus 1 inch 8 inches <br /> <br />C. Do not use calcium chloride. <br /> <br />D. Use set retarding admixtures during hot weather only when approved by Engineer. <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 <br /> <br />EXAMINATION: <br />A. Verify site conditions under provisions of Section 01039. <br /> <br />B. Verify requirements for concrete cover over reinforcement. <br /> <br />C. Verify that block-outs, anchors, reinforcement and other items to be cast into concrete are <br />accurately placed, positioned securely, and will not cause hardship in placing concrete. <br /> <br />3.02 PREPARATION: <br /> <br /> <br />A. Prepare previously placed concrete by sandblasting and cleaning by water blasting. <br /> <br />B. In locations where new concrete is doweled to existing work, drill holes in existing concrete, insert <br />steel dowels and pack solid with epoxy adhesive. <br /> <br />C. Apply bonding agent to all exposed existing concrete surfaces to be bonded in accordance with <br />manufacturer's instructions as directed by the Engineer. The Engineer, at his sole discretion, may <br />decide to omit the bonding agent. <br /> <br />3.03 PLACING CONCRETE: <br /> <br /> <br />A. Place concrete in accordance with ACI 301, ACI 318, and ACI 304. <br /> <br />B. Notify Engineer minimum 48 hours prior to commencement of operations. <br /> <br />C. Ensure reinforcement, block-outs, inserts and embedded parts are not disturbed during concrete <br />placement. <br /> <br />D. Maintain records of concrete placement. Record date, location, quantity, air temperature, and test <br />samples taken. <br /> <br />E. Do not interrupt successive placement; do not permit cold joints to occur.
