SAMSON OCEANFRONT PARK <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS <br />CONCRETE REPAIR MORTARS 033123-2 <br /> <br />Working Time: 25 – 60 minutes. <br />Compressive Strength: 2,500 psi (17.2 MPa) at 1 day, 4,000 psi (27.6 MPa) at 3 days, 5,000 psi (34.5 MPa) at 7 days, <br />6,500 psi (44.8 MPa) at 28 days, ASTM C109. <br />Bond Strength: 1,000 psi (6.9 MPa) at 1 day, 2,000 psi (13.8 MPa) at 7 days, 2,200 psi (15.2 MPa) at 28 days, ASTM <br />C882, modified. <br />Flexural Strength: 500 psi (3.5 MPa) at 1 day, 1,200 psi (8.3 MPa) at 7 days, 1,500 psi (10.4 MPa) at 28 days, ASTM <br />C78. <br />Modulus of Elasticity in Compression: < 3.2 x 106 psi (2.21 x 104 MPa) at 28 days, ASTM C469, modified. <br />Splitting Tensile Strength: 300 psi ((2.1 MPa) at 1 day, 500 psi (3.5 MPa) at 7 days, 750 psi (5.2 MPa) at 28 days, <br />ASTM C496, mortar. <br />Shrinkage: Less than 0.025% at 1 day, less than 0.05%at 7 days, less than 0.08%at 28 days, ASTM C157, air cured. <br />Rapid Chloride Permeability: Less than 500 Coulombs, at 28 days, ASTM C1202. <br />Low -slump, non-sagging. <br />Color: Concrete gray <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSTALLATION OF OVERHEAD REPAIR MORTAR: <br />Coordinate installation with adjacent work to ensure proper sequence of construction. Protect adjacent areas and <br />landscaping from contact due to mixing and handling of materials. <br /> Examine substrates and conditions under which <br />materials will be installed. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected. <br />Surface Preparation: Comply with manufacturer's printed instructions and the following. <br />Remove loose and deteriorated materials from surfaces to be patched, to obtain an ICRI concrete surface profile CSP <br />4 or greater <br />Use mechanical chipping, sand-blasting or hydrodemolition. <br />Provide right-angle cuts at perimeter of repair by saw-cutting or chipping; do not feather edge. <br />Clean surfaces of bond-inhibiting materials including oil, dust and dirt, laitance and standing water. <br />Mixing: Comply with manufacturer's printed instructions and the following. <br />Precondition components to temperature of 70 plus or minus 5 degrees F (21 plus or minus 2.5 degrees C) prior to <br />mixing. <br />Add 6 to 6.5 pints (2.8 to 3.1 L) of clean, potable water per 60-pound bag. <br />Mix using a mechanical mixer to a uniform, lump-free consistency. Avoid over-mixing. <br />Do not add water beyond manufacturer’s instructions. Do not add additional powder. <br />Application: Comply with manufacturer's printed instructions and the following. <br />Apply when ambient and surface temperatures are 45 degrees F (7.5 degrees C) and rising. <br />Do not apply in freezing conditions or during precipitation. <br />Comply with manufacturer’s guides for hot and cold weather application.
