Job-Mixed Detergent Solution: Consult blocks manufacturer and mortar manufacturer to receive <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />2.14 <br /> <br />FIRE RATINGS: <br />A. At fire rated concrete masonry walls, if units are not supplied to meet the fire-rating requirement, <br />fill all open cells with fire resistant material. <br /> <br />PART 3 -EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 <br /> <br />EXAMINATION: <br />A. Masonry Installer shall examine the areas and conditions under which masonry is to be installed <br />and notify the Contractor in writing of conditions detrimental to the proper and timely completion <br />of the work. Do not proceed until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. <br /> <br />B. Beginning installation indicates acceptance of conditions and responsibility for performance of <br />installed work. <br /> <br />C. Masonry Installer shall examine rough-in and built-in construction to verify actual locations prior <br />to installation. <br /> <br />3.02 <br /> <br />INSTALLATION, GENERAL: <br />A. Thickness. Build cavity and composite walls and other masonry construction to the full thickness <br />shown. Build single-wythe walls to the actual thickness of the masonry units, using units of <br />nominal thickness indicated. <br /> <br />B. Build chases and recesses as shown or required to accommodate items specified in this and other <br />Sections of the Specifications. Provide not less than 8 inches of masonry between chase or recess <br />and jamb of openings and between adjacent chases and recesses. <br /> <br />C. Leave openings for equipment to be installed before completion of masonry. After installation of <br />equipment, complete masonry to match construction immediately adjacent to the opening. <br /> <br />D. Cut masonry units with motor driven saws to provide clean, sharp, unchipped edges. Cut units as <br />required to provide continuous pattern and to fit adjoining construction. Use full-size units without <br />cutting where possible. <br /> <br />E. Do not wet concrete masonry units. <br /> <br />F. Do not use frozen materials or materials mixed or coated with ice or frost. Do not build on frozen <br />work. Remove and replace masonry work damaged by frost or freezing. <br /> <br />G. Do not use chipped or broken units. Such units discovered as part of the finished work shall result <br />in immediate removal and replacement at no cost to the Owner. <br /> <br />H. Reject, and do not place any split-face block which has a surface variation greater than or <br />less than one inch (1") than the average thickness of the wall. <br /> <br />3.03 CONSTRUCTION TOLERANCES:
