Select Fill: <br />B. <br />Select Backfill shall be clean material free from organic material, clods, and stones <br />greater than three inches around structures and other areas. Select backfill shall be placed where <br />indicated on the Drawings. Select backfill is required where higher control of materials and <br />placement is needed such as roadway embankments and adjacent to structures. <br /> <br />Random Fill: <br /> <br /> Random Backfill shall be clean material free from organic material, clods, and stones <br />greater than six inches. Random backfill shall be placed where indicated on the Drawings. <br />Random backfill is required where stable backfill is needed to maintain slopes and grades, but will <br />not retain water or be adjacent to structures. <br />C. Unclassified Fill <br /> <br />: Unclassified Fill shall be material used to bring areas to grade where there is no <br />potential for slope erosion and the fill will not support a structure of critical function.
