Samson Oceanfront Park <br />City of Sunny Isles <br />Technical Specifications <br />SOIL STABILIZATION 02240-1 <br /> <br /> <br />SECTION 02240 - SOIL STABILIZATION <br /> <br /> <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> <br />1.01 <br /> <br />SCOPE: <br />A. Summary of Work: The CONTRACTOR shall furnish all labor, equipment, and materials for <br />stabilization of the soil to provide a firm and unyielding subgrade for the WORK as described in this <br />section. <br /> <br />B. RELATED WORK: <br />1. 02200 Earthwork <br /> <br />1.02 APPLICABLE PUBLICATIONS <br /> <br />: The following standard specifications shall apply to the work of this Section <br />as indicated: <br />A. Florida Department of Transportation <br />1. Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, latest edition, (FDOT). <br /> <br />B. American Society of Testing Materials, (ASTM). <br />1. ASTM D1557-00, Standard Test Methods for Laboratory Compaction Characteristics of <br />Soil Using the Modified Effort (56,000 ft-lb/ft3 (2,700 kN-m/m3)). <br /> <br />2. ASTM D 2922-01, Standard Test Methods for Density of Soil and Soil-Aggregate in Place <br />by the Nuclear Methods (Shallow Depth). <br /> <br />C. Soils Report/Boring log, See Appendix. <br /> <br />1.03 <br /> <br />DEFINITIONS: (Not Used) <br />1.04 SUBMITTALS: <br /> <br />The CONTRACTOR shall provide to the ENGINEER three copies of certified test results for <br />the tests required to be performed by the CONTRACTOR. <br />1.05 <br /> <br />QUALIFICATIONS: (Not Used) <br />1.06 <br /> <br />RESPONSIBILITIES: (Not Used) <br />1.07 CERTIFICATIONS AND TESTING <br /> <br />: Contractor shall provide testing for the stabilized subgrade in accordance <br />with the approved quality control plan per Section 01410. One density test minimum per every 7000 square <br />feet of surface area is required. One Proctor test is required per subgrade material and every change in <br />materials. <br />1.08 INSPECTION COORDINATION: <br /> <br /> The CONTRACTOR shall provide access to the work for the ENGINEER <br />as requested for inspection. The Contractor shall provide 48 hours notice of its intention to begin new WORK <br />activities. Failure to meet the specified density will require the CONTRACTOR to recompact and retest, at its <br />own expense, those areas directed by the ENGINEER <br />1.09 <br /> <br />WARRANTY: (Not Used) <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> <br />2.01 PRODUCT REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />: <br />
