SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br /> 5A. Add-On <br /> A Presentation on the Geographical Information System (GIS), by Calvin, Giordano & <br /> Associates, Inc. <br /> Action: Acting City Clerk Hines read the title and City Manager Russo introduced Dennis <br /> Giordano of Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc, who did a presentation on GIS. <br /> Public Speakers: Dennis Giordano; Hector Perez, Director of GIS; and Shelley Eichner, of <br /> Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. <br /> Dennis Giordano explained that a Geographical Information System is a way to store <br /> information at a geographical point. He introduced Hector Perez who demonstrated the City's <br /> GIS on the computer and showed a parcel base map,which is the foundation of the GIS. The <br /> parcel base map was put in by using the recorded plats and legal descriptions from the Miami- <br /> Dade County Property Appraiser's Office, aerial photography(done by Beiswenger,Hoch& <br /> Associates), and surveying methodology. The GIS also has Land Use and Zoning <br /> Information. City Manager Russo said that he will be meeting with staff on the use of the <br /> GIS, and that the System will be put on the City's website. <br /> Vice Mayor Edelcup asked Shelley Eichner to update them on meetings she will be holding on <br /> the Town Center Study. Ms. Eichner reported that they have completed their meetings with <br /> the property owners and other interested parties. She said that she and Jorge Vera will be <br /> setting up meetings with each of the Commissioners, individually, for next week with the <br /> same presentation as they gave the property owners and developers, for the purpose of gaining <br /> their input. Ms. Eichner stated that after the meetings are completed and they have all of the <br /> input, they will then begin writing the proposed Town Center Zoning Overlay District, and <br /> bring it to a City Commission workshop. <br /> Mayor Samson thanked Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc., on behalf of the City <br /> Commission. <br /> 3 <br />
