<br />01560 - 2/4 <br />1.3 NOISE CONTROL <br />A. CONTRACTOR'S vehicles and equipment shall be such as to minimize noise to <br />the greatest degree practicable. Noise levels shall conform to the latest OSHA <br />standards, other federal regulations, and state and local regulations, and in no <br />case will noise levels be permitted which interfere with the work of the OWNER or <br />others. The CONTRACTOR shall employ controls during construction sufficient to <br />assure that the above limits are achieved. <br />B. All construction equipment powered by an internal combustion engine shall be <br />equipped with a properly maintained muffler. <br />C. Air compressors shall be operated in accordance with the manufacturer's <br />instructions for proper noise abatement. <br />D. Air-powered equipment shall be fitted with pneumatic exhaust silencers. <br />E. In the event that the OWNER receives verifiable and reasonable complaints <br />concerning noise generated by the construction activities which is above the limits <br />set forth above, or if verifiable and reasonable complaints are so received <br />concerning noise generated by construction-related truck traffic, the <br />CONTRACTOR shall furnish such additional noise control measure as may be <br />required for control noise at or below the limits set forth above. <br />1.4 WATER CONTROL <br />A. CONTRACTOR shall provide methods to control water to prevent damage to the <br />Work, the site, or adjoining properties. <br />1. Control fill, grading and ditching to direct water away from excavations, pits, <br />tunnels and other construction areas; direct drainage to proper runoff courses <br />so as to prevent any erosion, damage or nuisance. <br />B. CONTRACTOR shall provide, operate and maintain equipment and facilities of <br />adequate size to control surface water. <br />C. CONTRACTOR shall maintain all work sites, including trenches, pits and <br />excavations in a dewatered condition. <br />D. CONTRACTOR shall provide all materials, equipment and personnel necessary <br />for dewatering. <br />E. CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for obtaining all necessary permits <br />associated with the discharge of collected waters. <br />F. CONTRACTOR shall dispose of collected waters in strict accordance with State, <br />Federal and Local environmental regulations. <br />G. CONTRACTOR shall dispose of collected water in a manner to prevent flooding, <br />erosion, or other damage to any portion of the site or to adjoining areas and in
