<br />02050 - 1/3 <br />SECTION 02050 DEMOLITION <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.01 SCOPE: <br />A. Summary of Work: The CONTRACTOR shall include the removal of existing <br />construction to limits indicated on drawings where earthwork or other construction <br />operations are to be performed as specified herein. The ENGINEER shall not be <br />responsible for the condition of any items to be removed or salvaged. <br />1.02 APPLICABLE PUBLICATIONS: (Not Used) <br />1.03 DEFINITIONS: (Not Used) <br />1.04 SUBMITTALS: <br />A. Schedule of Demolition: <br />1. Submit proposed methods and operations of demolition for review prior to the <br />start of work. <br />B. Permits: <br />1. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for acquiring appropriate necessary <br />permits for the work. Copies of the permits shall be submitted to the <br />ENGINEER. <br />1.05 QUALIFICATIONS: (Not Used) <br />1.06 RESPONSIBILITIES: <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall not commence demolition prior to written permission of the <br />CITY. <br />B. Condition of structures to be demolished: <br />1. The ENGINEER assumes no responsibility for actual condition of structures to <br />be demolished. <br />2. Conditions existing at time of inspection for bidding purposes will be <br />maintained by ENGINEER insofar as practicable. <br />C. The CONTRACTOR shall remove all foundations to one foot below the proposed <br />sub-grades. <br />D. Explosives: The use of explosives will not be permitted. The CONTRACTOR may <br />use a non-explosive, expanding agent in drilled holes for the demolition of concrete, <br />and shall conform to all manufacturers’ recommendations, including safety <br />precautions for mixing and placing the agent. <br />E. The CONTRACTOR shall ensure the safe passage of persons around the area of <br />demolition and clearing. The CONTRACTOR shall conduct operations to prevent <br />injury to adjacent structures, other facilities, and persons. <br />1. The CONTRACTOR shall protect existing finish work that is to remain in place <br />from damage due to demolition operations. <br />F. Traffic:
