<br /> <br />02114 - 3/4 <br />2. Where exotic trees are removed in sensitive areas, they shall be cut as low as <br />possible (within 4 inches of surrounding natural grade). In tree trimming, any <br />cut of at least two (2) inches in diameter shall be cut flush to the main limb or <br />trunk. All limbs shall be undercut to prevent bark teardown. All pruning shall <br />be in conformance with ANSI A300 Pruning Standards. <br />3. In the event that the removal of exotic plant materials could damage any native <br />trees or listed species, the CONTRACTOR shall notify the ENGINEER before <br />proceeding further. <br />3.03 CLEARING AND BRUSH REMOVAL: <br />A. The CONTRACTOR where necessary or required shall implement selective clearing <br />methods conforming to the applicable requirements of ANSI Standards Z133.1, <br />Z133.1a and A300. <br />B. The CONTRACTOR may not burn combustible products of the clearing operation on <br />the site <br />3.04 REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL: <br />A. It shall be the CONTRACTOR's responsibility to remove and dispose of (in a legal <br />manner) all mulch, cut branches, tree trunks and any other debris or solid waste at <br />an approved disposal site. Limbs and any other debris/solid waste shall be disposed <br />of by the CONTRACTOR and shall not be deposited into any trash container. Wood <br />chips/mulch may be disposed of on OWNER’s property if directed by the ENGINEER <br />B. The CONTRACTOR shall perform all work in conformance with all applicable <br />regulations, ordinances and code requirements of the appropriate city, county, state <br />and/or federal jurisdiction. Exotic/invasive plants are defined as Brazilian Pepper, <br />Australian Pine, Melaleuca, or as directed by ENGINEER, and contract <br />specifications. <br />3.05 TREE AND SHRUB PROTECTION: <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall exercise care to protect all trees and shrubs designated to <br />remain. The CONTRACTOR shall perform WORK in conformance with the <br />Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services' “Tree Protection Manual for <br />Builders and Developers.” Where trees and shrubs are adjacent to construction, <br />they shall be protected - where damaged, restored or replaced to original conditions. <br />Trees or existing grade damaged on the construction site shall be restored to original <br />condition. Tree limbs, which interfere with equipment operation and are approved for <br />pruning, shall be neatly trimmed in accordance with NAA/ANSI standards. The <br />CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for damages, maintenance, and protection of <br />trees and shrubs to be protected. <br />3.06 GRADES: <br />A. It shall be the responsibility of the CONTRACTOR to provide the final grading to <br />conform to surrounding grades and to be at the proper elevation with relation to <br />walks, paving, drainage structures and other site conditions, unless indicated <br />otherwise. <br />3.07 HERBICIDE TREATMENT: <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall provide herbicide for stump eradication as approved by <br />the ENGINEER. Use of herbicides shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s
