The CONTRACTOR shall exercise extreme care to prevent damage to desirable <br />existing growth. If necessary, the CONTRACTOR shall conduct a test to establish <br />suitability of product and applicator that will be used on this project prior to execution <br />of the full application. <br />3.08 QUALITY ASSURANCE: <br />A. The work site shall be clean and free of trimmings, stumps, roots, logs, or any other <br />debris resulting from the WORK, and trash, litter or rubbish exposed during the <br />CONTRACTOR’s tree removal services. Stumps and roots may remain in sensitive <br />areas (as referenced in 3.02.A.1 of this specification) in accordance with the <br />contracts documents. <br />3.09 EQUIPMENT: <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall provide equipment in good repair and operating condition <br />at all times. Only equipment designed for performance of work described herein will <br />be acceptable for operation. All equipment shall meet all safety requirements as <br />established for this type of work. Equipment shall be operated and maintained in <br />accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. Equipment shall have the <br />appropriate safety guards, which shall not be removed (e.g., chain saws, chippers, <br />etc.). <br />B. The CONTRACTOR will be required to have available on site and in good working <br />condition a minimum of the following: <br />1. Sufficient traffic control devices to safely control traffic through work areas in <br />accordance with the “Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets <br />and Highways” and Florida Department of Transportation requirements. <br />C. It shall be the responsibility of the CONTRACTOR to verify the location of all utilities, <br />structures, etc., by hand excavation or other appropriate measures before performing <br />any work that could result in damage or injury to persons, utilities, structures or <br />property. The CONTRACTOR shall make a thorough search of the site for utilities, <br />structures, etc., before work is commenced in any particular location. <br />D. The CONTRACTOR shall not purposefully disrupt or disconnect any type of utility, <br />electric or irrigation service without first obtaining the written permission of the CITY. <br />Requests for disconnection must be in writing and received by the CITY at least <br />seven calendar days prior to the time of the requested interruption. <br />E. The CONTRACTOR shall take within two hours and complete within 48 hours the <br />necessary steps to repair, replace, or restore all services to any utilities or other <br />facilities, which are disrupted due to his or her operations. <br />F. Should utilities, structures, etc., be encountered that interfere with the work; and are <br />not shown on the drawings, the CONTRACTOR shall notify the ENGINEER <br />immediately. <br /> <br />END OF SECTION <br />
