<br />02480 - 4/12 <br />1. Provide replacement of the same species of equal size and quality as the <br />damaged plant. <br />2. If an equal-sized plant cannot be found, then other methods of compensation <br />shall be determined in negotiation with ENGINEER. They may include, but not <br />be limited to: <br />3. Replacement with plant(s) of another species of same size as original plant. <br />4. Replacement with more than one plant to equal the canopy, trunk diameter, or <br />overall height. <br />5. Payment in lieu of replacement, with value determined by “replacement” value. <br />6. Replacements shall be guaranteed for a period equal to the originally specified <br />guarantee. This guarantee period shall begin at time of acceptable <br />replacement. <br />7. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for watering the replacement upon <br />installation and as required for sixty (60) calendar days after planting. <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.01 SPECIES: All trees, shrubs and other plants damaged, destroyed or removed during the <br />execution of the work shall be replaced with the same species, and of equal quality and <br />size. <br />2.02 PLANT GRADE: Any supplier of materials misrepresenting the grade or quality of their <br />materials (i.e., a higher grade than they actually are) as determined by the ENGINEER, <br />shall not be allowed to supply any material for the project. All material already supplied <br />and received from such a supplier shall be removed and replaced at the CONTRACTOR’s <br />sole cost. This requirement for removal and replacement shall also include any installed <br />materials. No further materials will be accepted from such supplier until written evidence <br />is submitted and confirmed that all material for delivery is of the grade or quality <br />represented. <br />2.03 NOMENCLATURE: The CONTRACTOR shall supply plant material conforming to the <br />names given in Standardized Plant Names, Species, Etc., 1942 Edition, prepared by the <br />American Joint Committee on Horticultural Nomenclature. Names of varieties not included <br />therein shall conform generally with names accepted in the nursery trade. <br />2.04 GRADE STANDARDS: The CONTRACTOR shall furnish plant material nursery grown <br />species and shall comply with all required inspections, grading standards and plant <br />regulations as set forth in the latest edition of the Florida Department of Agriculture and <br />Consumer Services Division of Plant Industry manual “Grades and Standards for Nursery <br />Plants” or with any superseding specifications that may be called out on the plans. All <br />plants not listed in the “Grades and Standards for Nursery Plants” shall conform to Florida <br />No. 1 as to: (1) health and vitality; (2) condition of foliage; (3) root system; (4) freedom <br />from pest or mechanical damage; and (5) heavily branched and densely foliated according <br />to the accepted normal shape of the species. <br />2.05 The CONTRACTOR shall furnish grass seed as required as specified herein. <br />A. Provide fresh, clean, new crop seed complying with tolerance for purity and <br />germination established by Official Seed Analysts of North America and as required <br />below.
