The Town's utility infrastructure has become dated and Surveying
® in need of replacement/rehabilitation. Surfside took the forward steps to direct CGA to Permitting
® design, permit, manage and inspect the complete rehabilitation of their water, sewer and GIS
drainage systems. Landscape Architecture
® Construction Management
® Sanitary Sewer Surfside's aging sanitary sewer collection system was suffering from Construction Inspection
® extensive inflow & Infiltration (I/I). This 1/I was unnecessarily causing Surfside to
expend funds to treat the inflowing ground water in addition to the town's sewage. CGA Principal in Charge
® performed investigative T.V. inspections of all existing sanitary sewer collection lines. Dennis J.Giordano
® These inspections were utilized to produce a final design of point repairs, grouting and
lining developed to eliminate the I/I. In addition to the rehabilitation of the main lines Project Administrator
® all pump stations, laterals, cleanouts and manholes were rehabilitated or replaced. Chris Giordano,SMC
® Storm Sewer CGA developed the Town of Surfside Stormwater Management Master
5 Plan to address water quality issues and reduce flooding within the Town. The Master Project Manager
® Plan included a complete engineering analysis based on the ICPR computer models of Bob McSweeney, PE
the stormwater management system. From a water quality perspective, CGA formulated
® the best approach to reduce or eliminate pollutant discharge loadings into Biscayne Bay Construction Cost
0 from the Town's system. In addition, the modeling targeted improvement in hydraulic 516,000,000
performance of the Town's drainage system.
® The Town's stormwater management system is divided into 9 drainage basins. Basins 1 Consultant Cost
® thru 6 and Basin 8 were modeled with water quality improvements, as well as with
® basin interconnects for hydraulic improvement. 5525,000
® The majority of the basin interconnects were modeled at the downstream end of the
system to more evenly distribute the flow and to optimize the true discharge at each
O individual outfall. Control structures were installed upstream of all the outfalls to
® facilitate discharge into drainage wells prior to overflow into Biscayne Bay through the
® outfalls.
® Water System. CGA designed a replacement system which not only increased the size
of the distribution system to allow for proper fire flows, but also relocated these lines
® from the back alleys to the front of the house to comply with Miami Dade codes.
® Additional modifications were made to the system to eliminate dead ends and improve
® circulation and flow.
® Page 2119
0
