The City has reached Bidding
® development maturity and is focused on maintaining the existing infrastructure.Although
the City does not operate a water or wastewater treatment, they do manage the water Principal in Charge
® distribution and sewer collection system that serves a majority of the City. These systems Karl M.Kennedy, PE
® are aging and are in need of rehabilitation and upgrades. In addition, the existing
topography provides little relief for storm water management and therefore must depend
® Project Administrator
on the efforts of the City, County and South Florida Water Management District for area
® wide drainage and flood control. David E.Stambaugh, PE
® CGA is currently under contract with the City to design water, wastewater and drainage Project Engineers
® improvements to the 570 acre Bid Pack 9 area located in the eastern portion of the their Mohammed Sharifuzzaman,
service area. These improvements were identified in the City's Strategic Performance PE
® Area and Business Plan Initiative. The project includes approximately 20,000 linear feet of Francisco Reina, El
® water main replacement, 80 fire hydrants, 5,000 linear feet of force main and the design Luis Pimentel,El
® of the replacement of Lift Station B-2. This area also contains 5 drainage projects that
were identified as deficient areas that are in need of improvement in the City's Surveyors
® Stormwater Master Plan. Due to a deficient drainage system and a recent storm event in Robert Jackson,PSM
® October 2011, many of the residence experienced flood conditions throughout this area. Donald Cooper, PSM
During this unfortunate occurrence, CGA visited the area with City Staff to get a firsthand
® view of the effects of heavy rains. The City requested that CGA take these flooding issues Construction Cost
® into consideration in the design to optimize the amount of flood protection that could be
® added to the project. CGA accepted this difficult task and will be working the City and the $5,765,000
residence of this area to improve these conditions. The project is currently at the 60%
® design level and CGA is in the process of coordinating with appropriate permitting Consultant Cost
® agencies for approval. Once the project design has been approved by the permitting $498,220
agencies and all comments and concerns from the City and residence of this area have
® been addressed, CGA will provide the bidding assistance for procurement of the contract Firm's Role
® to construct. The project is currently on schedule with an estimated start to construction Prime
® in January 2013.
Page 21 31
