0
®
® e ) Calvin, Giordano S Associates, Inc.
( " > OtU , 0 . 5 Section
4 9 APPROACH / METHODOLOGY
Suitability of Methodology and Approach
® Calvin Giordano & Associates, Inc. (CGA) has an extremely experienced and diverse staff in the fields of
construction management. Their methods of approaching studies and projects have proved extremely
® effective for clients throughout South Florida.
The CGA Team has provided the City of Sunny Isles Beach with superior quality work for several years. As a
9 result of this relationship, CGA is intimately familiar with the City's standards and personnel. Aside from
9 these factors, the CGA Team is qualified to be the owner's Construction Managers Support for
implementation of various projects because of our extensive work on local municipalities Capital
® Improvement Programs.
® Understanding the Scope of Work
The first step in any successful project is gaining a complete understanding of the scope and your clients
9 needs and desires prior to commencement. CGA is familiar from previous projects with the City of Sunny
9 Isles Beach and its surrounding areas. Moreover, CGA has personal relationships with the City of Sunny
® Isles Beach, its surrounding municipalities and all Agencies Having Jurisdiction (AHD. These personal
relationships allow us to tailor our expertise to your needs, provided an expedited process which exceeds
9 your expectations.
0 This step commences with reviewing the RFQ package, contract and work order. Once CGA has reviewed
® all of the data in our possession we will schedule a "kick off' meeting with the City to discuss the project
® specific scope of work and the City's expectation of CGA for this specific project. Immediately following this
meeting we will hold an in house meeting to discuss the project planning, controls and implementation.
9 Project Planning& Controls
® We understand that the scope of work will vary from project to project and time to time based on the City's
current work load and need. We also understand that no matter the task or phase of the project the best
® formula for success is control and planning. Chris Giordano, Assistant Project manager on this RFQ, served
9 as the Projects Control Manager for the 3rd largest heavy civil marine contractor in the US prior to his
employment at CGA. Chris utilizes this experience to lay the foundation of every project with proper
0 planning at the onset and proper controls throughout the duration of the project. This formula has proven
9 successful on many of CGAs CM projects, which is shown by the delivery of on-time projects that are
® completed within budget. CGA utilizes Primavera Scheduling or Microsoft Project (varies by client
preference), S Curves, cost loading & estimation, and baselines for both progress and spending to quickly
0 identify any portion of the project which needs to be addressed before it can become an issue.
This step commences with our CGA in house meeting. At this meeting the scope assigned will be discussed.
® A project plan, schedule, and controls will be developed. After approval by the City of our schedule and
0 controls, they will be set as the"baseline" for this project. This baseline will allow CGA and the City to more
® accurately monitor the project's progress.
® Quality Assurance/Quality Control
9 CGA embraces a strict corporate policy that ensures every pertinent document, estimate, schedule or plan
® is reviewed by multiple departments and levels of expertise to ensure every document produced by CGA is
of the highest quality and accuracy. Every design or field modification is passed through our construction
® department prior to distribution to identify any potential Value Engineering (VE) or constructability issues
that may arise.
es
® RFQ#12-04-02,Construction Management Services Page 41
0
