Inc.
E.•
\-`..IEXCEPTIONAL SOLUTIONS Section
4
® `J1
® APPROACH / METHODOLOGY
® SUITABILITY OF METHODOLOGY AND APPROACH
® Calvin Giordano & Associates, Inc. (CGA) has an extremely experienced and diverse staff in the fields of
® environmental and civil engineering. Their methods of approaching studies and projects have proved
extremely effective for clients throughout South Florida.
® CGA has assisted a large number of municipalities in South Florida with the implementation of projects to
® upgrade infrastructure elements such as roadways, sidewalks, pathways, storm sewer, sanitary and potable
water systems. Through the use of various software programs, we can model any system regardless of the
® size. Exploring grant funding alternatives, conceptual design, neighborhood outreach, and grant application
® preparation generally constitute the initial involvement of CGA on specific projects of this nature. With
® direction from the City-assigned project manager, we would proceed with preliminary engineering, private
utility coordination, agency coordination, final engineering, and permitting. Following this, we begin the
actual project implementation phase. This would begin with the project bidding process, at which time we
® would provide any desired assistance to staff. In the final phases of the project, our inspectors would
• support the City inspection staff during the construction phase to whatever extent City staff deemed
necessary.
CGA also keeps up to date with the various regulatory changes associated with agencies such as DERM,
® DEP, SFWMD, EPA, ACOS, MDWASD, FDOT, the USDOT, the Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Health
® Department as well as many others.
We understand that due to the unique geographic location of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, adjacent to the
• Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, there are many more unique challenges to address than in a
® western landlocked South Florida City.We have the qualified personnel to address these matters.
® CGA has available 168 personnel in our Broward office in the City of Fort Lauderdale. This includes 19
® Professional Engineers, 3 Registered Landscape Architects, 11 Professional Surveyors and Mappers. We are
® currently at approximately 70% of our workload capacity. This would allow us to immediately address
even the largest City projects once under contract with the City.
® We believe that with our diverse capabilities, and based on our past performance with other municipalities,
® our services would be a great asset to the City Engineering Staff. Whether a project or task is large or small,
or sensitive in nature, CGA will provide the proper staffing levels, quality leadership, and necessary
® expertise to assist the City in meeting its future goals.
® OVERALL ORGANIZATION TO COMPLETING PROJECT
I® Upon being awarded the project by the City of Sunny Isles Beach, the CGA project manager will meet with
® the assigned City staff to determine specific requirements of the project, define the project budget, and will
0 then prepare an understanding of project scope, and a preliminary project timeline. The understanding of
project scope and preliminary project timeline will be provided to the City for review and approval prior to
® the CGA internal project "Kick-off Meeting." This "Kick-off Meeting" will occur after the initial project
award meeting between City Staff and the CGA project manager.
® At the "Kick-off Meeting," the team will be introduced to the scope, the budget and the timeline. The project
Amanager will define the various elements of the projects and describe the quality control/quality assurance
® requirements at this meeting. The team project manager will periodically review the progress of the project
to assure meeting the project timeline and budget as initially approved by the City. The project manager
® will then update City Staff of the project progress.
® RFQ#12-04-02,Civil/Environmental Engineering Page 411
0
