e n )40
Calvin. Giordano & Associates. Inc.
Liv
\\ 1 E x C E P T I O N A L SOLUTIONS
• 3. Calvin, Giordano &Associates, Inc. is in the process of completion of construction of a roundabout at the
® intersection of Blatt Boulevard / Bonaventure Road in the City of Weston. This project has been under
® construction since May 2010 and is approximately 70 percent complete and there have been no change
• orders.
® 4. CGA very recently completed construction of the Pembroke Pines WTP improvements. This project was
• delivered as a Design / Build project, and completed under the contract amount even with the City
® adding additional scope to the project. The project cost was $15,403,880.
® 5. Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. has designed an ion exchange color removal system to supplement
• the existing lime softening water treatment system at a local WTP. Our design minimized the amount of
new equipment required and allowed continued use of the existing water treatment plant thereby
e reducing design and capital costs for the City.
® CGA'S STRENGTH IN DRAINAGE SYSTEM DESIGN
® Calvin Giordano & Associates, Inc. (CGA) has designed a vast number of drainage systems with a large
® number of those being coastal using both gravity drainage wells and pressurized drainage wells. While we
0 make use of the existing wells to the intracoastal and other bodies, the newer systems are designed to
discharge into the G3 aquifer under permitting through FDEP and DERM. These wells are designed with the
® use of a Reasonable Assurance Report from a Hydro-geologist to determine the semi-confining layer between
® the G2 and G3 aquifers to avoid the contamination of drinking water aquifers. In addition our designs account
® for the placement of backlow prevention devices on the drainage systems such as flap gates or Tideflex valves
so as not to allow tidal fluctuations to back up into the system and inundate low lying areas of the City. We
9 generally design the secondary piping system for the 3 year one hour storm event, the roadways for the 10
• year,24 hour event, and the habitable dwellings for the 100 year, 72 hour storm event.
® We have recently designed systems for Bay Harbor Islands, Surfside, Hallandale Beach, Dania Beach,
® Oakland Park, Cooper City, Pembroke Pines,Weston, and many other municipalities.
• CGA'S STRENGTH IN FORCE MAIN ANALYSIS
® We have performed a significant number of force main analysis projects over the recent years. This
• involves the municipalities of Cooper City, Pembroke Pines, Weston, Opa-Locka, and Davie. This generally
involves the use of a program called WaterCad. With a combination of performing draw down tests in lift
® stations, through the use of SCADA data, and the selective placement of pressure gauges (data loggers) at
® strategic points throughout the force plain (wastewater transmission) system we are able to obtain
sufficient data to model and calibrate the transmission system. While gathering this information, we are
also obtaining as-built information on the force mains, lift station, lift station manuals, and actual field
survey information to build an accurate model of the existing network. Once the existing model has been
developed and calibrated, we begin to enter modifications that will increase the efficiency and life of the
® system. From this point we can develop a prioritized capital plan.
• CGA'S STRENGTH IN STORM WATER
Calvin Giordano &Associates, Inc. (CGA) has been the Drainage/Storm Water Management Engineer for the
• South Broward Drainage District (SBDD) since 1990. The firm was originally contracted to develop the
® first and only district-wide basin hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and storm water comprehensive plan.
CGA is also the District Engineer for Indian Trace Development District and Bonaventure Development
District and has completed basin wide hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, including the master drainage
® system modeling, analysis and pumping station upgrades, large scale mitigation/wetlands plans and the
® updates of the comprehensive plan. CGA uses the latest in advance computer-assisted software
• technologies such as the Interconnected Pond Routing (ICPR), Hydraflow, Cascade and other current
computer programs.
9 RFQ#12-04-02,Civil/Environmental Engineering Page 414
