The CGA attendees
® present at the meetings will be dependent on the phase of the project and the issues to be addressed. These
® meetings will be focused on adherence to the project timeline, quality control, budget, and also on the
® resolution of any outstanding issues.
® Close attention to the budgetary constraints of available funding will be a primary focus of the CGA team. In
• addition, value-engineering analysis will play a critical role ensuring the most efficient design possible. No
work will be added to the project without review and agreement by both the City staff and the CGA project
® manager; such review will include cost and time impacts to identify alternative solutions, which can
® maintain the project's budget. An initial review of the long-range estimate will be conducted as one of the
® first work items under this contract. Verifying the estimated work against the agreed upon project scope
will establish the baseline cost for construction. Just as in the design controls stated above, no additions to
® the scope will be made without a review by the City Staff and the CGA project manager.
® This constitutes our approach and methodology to the design and permitting of the project as described in
® the RFQ. We have effectively implemented this approach on other very similar projects.
•
ABILITY TO MEET DESIRED TIMELINES AND DEADLINES
® The Calvin Giordano & Associates, Inc. (CGA) Team constantly strives to deliver a high quality product to our
® client at or before the scheduled deadline. CGA will enlist all needed team members to ensure deliverables are
® provided to the City in an expedited fashion. CGA accomplishes this task by keeping all channels of
communication open amongst team members and coordinating in-house project meetings to make sure project
milestones are being met as planned. Communication amongst our large group of experts will allow CGA to
1110 expedite project schedules.
® The CGA Team can assist the City with ensuring the City of Sunny Isles Beach residents and businesses are given a
® high quality product in the most cost effective manner. Throughout construction, it's crucial to maintain open
® communication between the contractor and design team to minimize the number of submitted change orders.
® This process allows all parties involved to remain on schedule and meet the budget goals. This project's prime
• focus is obtaining a permanent, cost effective and regulatory compliant solution to a specific issue and will
® require clearly defined project objectives and a detailed and concise scope definition from project
inception.
® The following are examples of projects where CGA has delivered ahead of schedule, and /or under budget:
® 1. Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc (CGA) has been involved in the recent completion of the re-
® construction of the Master Storm Water Pump Stations for the Bonaventure Development District (BDD)
® in Weston, Florida. This project completed construction in June of 2010, two months ahead of the
projected schedule. CGA secured grant funding for the entire $4.9 million project, through the matching
® of state and federal funds. The original scope of the project was less than the total grant amount;
® thereby allowing the District to add improvements to the system, within the overall grant scope,
without spending any District funds.
® 2. Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. recently completed construction on a 2-mile roadway widening
improvement project for Manatee Isles Drive in the City of Weston. The initial contract price was
® $1,548,985 and the final contract amount was $1,573,920 with the difference attributable to a City
® request for an additional project element outside of the original scope of services.
•
•
® RFQ#12-04-02,Civil/Environmental Engineering Page 413
