•® 2• QUALIFICATIONS
® We began as M.E. Berry & Associates in 1937 and became Berry & Calvin in 1985. Twelve years later, the
• transformation was made to Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. (CGA). From the beginning, much of our
• reputation was built on repeat business with clients from the public and private sectors. Our success is
• reflected in the quality of work we consistently provide and also in the personal approach we take with
each client. The winning combination is affirmed by the fact that CGA grew steadily during an economy that
® was not only challenging but also daunting to many larger firms in Florida these past few years. We focus
• on adding professionals and technology that address the needs of our South Florida customers instead of
® simply adding new branch office addresses.
• Founded in Hollywood, our main office is now in Fort Lauderdale, within Port Everglades. Today, our firm
• employs more than 200 professionals who provide a broad range of landscape architecture, planning, civil
engineering, transportation/traffic engineering, surveying, permitting, environmental specialty services,
• data technology (including Geographic Information Systems), and construction services. In addition to our
• Fort Lauderdale office, we now have offices in West Palm Beach, Homestead, Clearwater, Port St. Lucie,
• Atlanta, and Jacksonville.
• The firm's municipal experience in South Florida is enviable. We currently or previously served as con-
® sultants to many municipalities including West Palm Beach, Riviera Beach, Lake Park, Lantana, Weston,
Sunny Isles Beach, Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Wellington, Hollywood, Davie, Dania Beach, North Miami
® Beach, Islamorada, and Marathon.
PLANNING/PAST PERFORMANCE
CGA's mission is to provide innovative planning services that exceed client expectations. With a diverse
• team of professionals and technical staff, CGA possesses the expertise and experience that encompasses all
• facets of the planning and development process. CGA provides current, comprehensive planning and/or
zoning services to several municipalities throughout Florida and has acted as the primary Development
• Review Committee (DRC) consultant for a number of municipalities. CGA's planning staff possesses a
• thorough and complete understanding of planning processes from both a public and private perspective
• and from municipal to state authority.
• Several of our CGA planners currently serve as consulting staff members as well as Community
• Development Directors for several municipalities. This responsibility requires complete understanding of
® planning policy and historic precedence to prepare sustainable, community-oriented long range planning
analyses, master plans and to equitably administer zoning and development codes. This role also requires
• stellar written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain professional working
• relationships with not only colleagues and staff persons but also municipal officials, neighborhood activists
and the community at-large. CGA anticipates regular dialogue and constant communication with City of
® Sunny Isles Beach staff and stakeholders to ensure all work products satisfy the requirements specified in
• state law and all codes and ordinances of the City of Sunny Isles Beach.
® General Planning Services
• Calvin, Giordano & Associates provides general planning services including site plan review and review of
• applications for variances, conditional use, zoning and future land use map amendments in addition to day-
to-day zoning assistance for a number of Florida cities. In many cases, these municipalities take advantage
• of cost recovery ordinances to ensure plan review costs do not become a burden to local taxpayers. CGA
• planners are supported as needed by environmental planners, landscape architects, traffic engineers, and
• GIS specialists to ensure thorough review of development applications and unique land use situations. CGA
general planning clients include:
