PROJECT EXPERIENCE (CONT'D)
Summerall Park Boat Ramp and Park Improvements, Tavares, FL — Project Manager, Aquatic
Biologist and Onsite Inspector. Responsible for managing the construction of an ADA dock and boat
ramp system, restroom facility and pavilion. Coordinated with FWC and FDEP regulatory staff to
implement shoreline mitigation plantings, exotic vegetation removal and annual monitoring.
Woodlea Sports Complex, Tavares, FL — Biologist. Coordinated with the project engineer and City
staff on the design of a 40-acre sports park in accordance with the City's master plan. Also responsible
for ecological assessments and environmental permitting.
Wooton Park Boat Ramp Dredging, Tavares, FL — Aquatic biologist. The existing boat ramp was
redesigned for extension and proposed dredge template needed to be assessed. Assisted with
constructed inspection on this project. Performed preliminary assessments of shoreline vegetation and
benthic resources within the proposed dredge template before construction. Also collected sediment for
physiochemical analyses. Conducted environmental compliance inspections during the boat ramp
construction.'
PRIOR To DMC:
Upper Ocklawaha River Basin Water Quality Monitoring, Leesburg, FL — Field Sampling Specialist
(Water and Air Research, Inc.). Ongoing surface water quality monitoring throughout basin lakes,
creeks, channels, ditches, and other aquatic systems managed by the district. Performed various in-
situ physicochemical measurements and also collected, preserved, and filtered water samples for
® laboratory analyses. Weekly data was entered into Laboratory Information Management Systems
(LIMS) and sent to SJRWMD.
Leon County Stream Conditioning Index (SCI) Assessments, Leon County, FL — Biology
Technician (Water and Air Research, Inc.). Annual assessments of County stream systems using
FDEP approved SCI methods. Performed stream habitat evaluations and surface water quality
measurements. Also collected benthic macroinvertebrates in the field and processed (sieved, sorted,
and counted) samples in the laboratory.
Evaluation of Effects of Solar-Powered (Solar Bee) Reservoir Circulator on Larval Chironomidae
and Water Quality in Lake Monroe, Sanford, FL — Environmental Specialist (Volusia County
Mosquito Control). A short-term study was conducted by Volusia County Mosquito Control and the
University of Florida to test the effects of the aerator on larval chironomid midges and water quality.
Duties included preliminary planning, coordination of sampling dates, collection of benthic and water
quality samples, laboratory benthic sample analysis, data management and reporting of results.
Adult Chironomid Response to Light Shielding Alterations at a Central Florida Lakeside City,
Sanford, FL — Environmental Technician (Volusia County Mosquito Control). A study was conducted
to determine whether directional light shield manipulations could reduce the numbers of adult
chironomid midges attracted to Sanford's Lake Monroe shoreline. Duties as lead investigator included
study design and planning, fabrication of traps, and training of personnel, as well as data collection,
analysis, and reporting of results.
Larval and Adult Mosquito Population Management, Volusia County, FL — Mosquito Control
® Inspector (Volusia County Mosquito Control). Utilized Integrated Pest Management (IPM) methodology
to respond to public health requests. Performed adult insect trapping, larval sampling, chicken bleeding,
landing rate counts, taxonomic identification and laboratory disease testing to monitor vector mosquito-
borne diseases and nuisance insect populations. Also, applied biological and chemical control agents
according to FDACS and US EPA regulations.
