`AI R 1
4141.
are r IA CITY OF PORT ORANGE
C.1 , d m 1000 CITY CENTER CIRCLE
o
•
ilitSr,7OO
PORT ORANGE, FLORIDA 32129
TELEPHONE 386-506-5500
4/-101viiitt: FAX 38-Orange.o g
www.Port-Orange.org
February 18, 2009
To Whom It May Concern:
•
Re: Reference for Dredging & Marine Consultants, LLC
Dear Sir/Madam:
The City of Port Orange Parks and Recreation Department has been engaged in many projects over
the last decade. We most recently evaluated all of the City's 23 publically owned riverfront parks and
parcels for protection from storm damage and for potential improvement. These project sites included
seawall assessment, environmental assessment, surveying, stormwater outfalls repair, rock
revetment design, and creation of better public access.
In addition, the City has re-engineered a boat ramp access dockage by converting to a fix-floating
010 system to counter tidal impacts on public safety, brought a stormwater pond into compliance by
reconstructing a park stormwater pond, adding additional shoreline armoring using a rock revetment
at our public boat launch facility, and public restroom replacement. We have also currently completed
the design and permitting work to construct an ADA accessible kayak and public viewing pier system
at Russell Property. .
I have had the pleasure of working with Dredging and Marine Consultants and Mr. Shailesh K. Patel,
as Project Manager, and his staff through all these projects.
DMC has assisted the City with initial assessment of the site, project engineering, and construction
estimating, which was used to secure match funding for all these projects. DMC completed all
engineering, design options, permitting, technical specifications, bid preparation, bidding process, bid
review. construction inspection, permit compliance monitoring and reporting, and final project and
funding closeout.
Mr. Patel and DMC's staff have provided all aspects of the project work including consistent project
status reports, attending City Commission meeting for updates when required, addressed public
concerns and have managed all our projects within budget and time.
Their specialization in park projects has made them a valued asset to our City over the last eight
years. Should you have any further questions, please call me any time at (386)506-5852.
Respectfully,
x
Susan L.
