A Project <br /> Development and Environment (PD&E) Study was initiated as part of the planning process to <br /> ® evaluate roadway and safety improvement alternatives along a I2-mile segment of SR 70 <br /> (Okeechobee Road) from the Florida's Turnpike Entrance/Kings Highway to Jenkins Road(CR- <br /> 61 ID). The project corridor is located in St. Lucie County. Florida. Project objectives include <br /> the following: Improve roadway conditions: increase capacity to mitigate existing traffic <br /> congestion and to accommodate future traffic demand: improve drainage by providing the <br /> ® necessary stormwater treatment: improve access management: improve bicycle/pedestrian access <br /> and continuity: incorporate landscaping and aesthetic treatments: maintain an adequate level of <br /> ® service for traffic during construction. <br /> ® Project Manager, FDOT, NW 7/9 Connector PD&E Study, City of Fort <br /> ® Lauderdale/Broward County,FL,(2002—2004).Served as project manager for the completion <br /> of the NW 7/9 Connector PD&E Study for the City of Fort Lauderdale/Broward County/FDOT. <br /> ® This project entailed the preparation of an EA/FONSI for the construction of a new four lane <br /> arterial connection, which required extensive right-of-way acquisition just north of downtown <br /> ® Fort Lauderdale. <br /> ® <br /> NW 7th and NW 9th Avenues are parallel to each other through the heart of Fort Lauderdale.The <br /> linking of these roads into one corridor produced one of the most important corridors in Fort <br /> ® Lauderdale and Broward County and a gateway to the Downtown area and adjacent <br /> neighborhoods. Multitudes of vehicles travel north/south each year in the area. 1-95 and Andrews <br /> ® Avenue currently facilitate this traffic. The connection of these Avenues intended to provide a <br /> continuous north/south arterial. Project/Construction costs: $30.000.000 Reference: Mr. Dennis <br /> ® Girisgen. PE 954.761.5055 <br /> ® Project Manager, FDOT District 6, US-1 Big Coppitt Key PD&E Study, (2002 — 2004). <br /> ® Project Manger for the preparation of a CE-II to add a center lane on US-I in Big Coppitt Key. <br /> This PD&E study addressed the social and environmental aspects of the project. as well as <br /> ® potential utility conflicts.
