The job required channel excavation, muck removal. <br /> • realignment of the NW 58th Street Canal in order to construct the new southbound off-ramp, new <br /> • drainage system (french drain, close system, and trench drain along each side of the Palmetto), <br /> widening of the existing NW 58th Street bridge over the Palmetto,complete ramps(4)reconstruction, <br /> • <br /> concrete barrier walls,MSE walls,lighting,signalization,landscaping,superpave asphalt pavement, <br /> • pavement markings and signing.including several overhead sign structures. The canal realignment <br /> • was accomplished by installing triple 72"diameter RCP pipes under the Palmetto Expressway by the <br /> • microtunneling method and dual 108"diameter corrugated metal pipes under the new northbound <br /> on-ramp and southbound off-ramp. The microtunneling operation of these size pipes was the first <br /> • time that it was accomplished in South Florida.Also. Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP)wos used <br /> • for embankment material on the ramps and for subgrade material with the mixture of 30%sand in <br /> • order to achieve the required LBR of 40 or greater. This is the first time that RAP has been used for <br /> embankment material in South Florida. Subsequent to this use.
