Professional Engineer: Manger Figueroa has two years of transportation design experience, including highway and
Florida 72392, 2011 freeway design. Her responsibilities at Atkins involve assisting with planning, design, and
production of engineering drawings, as well as supporting drainage-related investigations and
designs. Ms. Figueroa is one of the first to complete Atkins' transportation graduate training
program, which enables employees to rotate through each the transportation departments;
1 the program was designed to expand and diversify knowledge of transportation engineering.
Ms. Figueroa completed tracks in drainage, project development and environment(PD&E),
traffic and planning, and structures track before returning permanently to the roadway group in
September 2007.
DMs. Figueroa's Atkins experience includes:
Honore Avenue Extension from Laurel Road to SR 61, Sarasota County, FL.This
project for Sarasota County involves a new alignment that serves as an alternative major traffic
a connector between the cities of Sarasota and Venice, and provides local circulation between
I-75 and US 41. As a design engineer(in drainage), she is responsible for flood plain calculations,
planning for future compensation sites, and evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.
SR 93 (1-75)from South of SR 56 to North of CR 54, Pasco County, FL. Ms. Figueroa
is assisting with the hydraulic analysis and summary report for the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT)District Seven's proposed widening of the I-75 concrete bridge culvert
1 over Cabbage Swamp in Pasco County. The proposed project consists of constructing an
eight-lane section from SR 56 to CR 54, and a six-lane section from CR 54 to the end of the
project, with the potential for an ultimate ten-lane section. She also was involved in the design
of special ditch profiles, ASAD, ditch bottom inlet location, pond design, drainage structures,
floodplain compensation site design, storm sewer design, spread calculations, and ICPR pond
and ditch modeling.
SR 679(Pinellas Bayway Structure E) at Intracoastal Waterway, Pinellas County, FL.
Ms. Figueroa assisted with preparations for the public hearing for this FDOT District Seven
project. Actively involved in the planning, hearing, and post-hearing process, as well as
preparation for comment responses.
SR 694(US 92/Gandy Boulevard) Master Signing Plan. Ms. Figueroa assisted with the
design of traffic signing, and pavement markings for this FDOT District Seven project.
Ms. Figueroa's work history prior to joining Atkins includes the following:
Quality System Technician, FDOT State Materials Office, Gainesville, FL. This work
involved evaluating annual surveys of the entire state highway system, performed with inertial
laser profilers, in support of the Department's Pavement Management Program. She also
assisted with pavement-related research; preparation of unit prices of different pavement
1 materials and construction approaches; and analysis of straight-line diagrams, roadway
construction plans, and materials to propose solutions that would enhance the performance of
Florida's roadway network.
Researcher/Data Collector, University of Florida Bureau of Economic and Business
Research, Gainesville, FL. Work included planning the efficient space allocation layout of
a new area in the facility, which involved accurate and efficient collection, by telephone, of
a wide range of data, as well as testing surveys to determine that the data were compiling
1 appropriately.
