I
1 GB &GAssoc. BA1ISwmTsA
©
IDESIGN
I The next step in our methodology is the actual design which includes the elements reviewed and
developed during the initial strategizing. This step is the most technical since it involves the
. _ 1 maximum use of our engineering skills and the use
1 . of our cutting edge tools for an optimal design
';e
e\,,..„..„.,,, f /j,,, The entire process of planning and design requires
1
e . .
rrr*44 ° I ii e not only imagination and conceptual thinking but
' u , 1a _ also sound knowledge of practical aspects. such as
. mil recent codes and statutes. backed up by ample
( [lL1Ginti
lCta
.F s_..,3 etilliias-:
e** experience, intuition and engineering judgment.
®I t aIna
nu" , It is emphasized that any project to be completed
' must satisfy the need for efficiency for which it is
intended and shall be durable for its desired life span. Thus. the design of any project could be
Icategorized into the following two main phases:
1. Study Phase
I2. Design
Our Team provides a holistic approach towards planning and design. where we involve members of
I the different disciplines necessary for the project and conduct a "Brainstorming Session` for the
purpose of obtaining an optimum solution to the project. The session is intended to identify fatal
flaws. value analysis and to maintain compatibility amongst the different disciplines involved in the
I
project. This holistic approach has been successful in both transportation planning and design
projects.
IOPTIMIZE
Any engineer can put a design on paper. It is an entirely different set of technical skills to make this
Idesign one that is practical. useful for its intended purposes and cost-effective. During the design
phase. we strive to optimize our designs. Typical architectural systems are described by very large
numbers of variables. and it is the designer's task to specify appropriate values for these variables.
Skilled designers utilize their knowledge. experience, and judgment to specify these variables and
design effective engineered systems. Because of the size and complexity of the typical design task.
IIhowever, even the most skilled designers are unable to take into account all of the variables
simultaneously. Design optimization is the application of techniques to engineering systems to assist
the designers in improving the system's performance. reliability. and/or cost.
11
0 CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH
RFQ NO. 12-04-02
El
