® Urban Design Plans
® Streetscapes and Urban Design Plans are the most challenging and interesting types of work that we
have accomplished. We have been lucky to have been selected to participate in the Miami Design District
• Charrrette, the Coconut Planning Study, the Brickell Village Design Guidelines and the Master planning of
® Arthur Godfrey Road, Washington Avenue and Espanola Way in Miami Beach. These plans included
® signage, paving, planting, street furniture and lighting. Landscape Urban Design is the art of understanding
how to create urban spaces.
O
• Some of the most important current issues to be addressed /tasks to be undertaken are:
® • Entry areas, Landmarks, Traffic Calming
® • Paving Recommendations: Vehicular, Pedestrian, Crosswalks
® • Street Furniture Recommendations
• Street Clutter Inventory & Recommendations
• •Additional Streetscape Elements
® • Loading and Service Access
0 • Tree Canopy: Maintenance of canopy while replacing trees as needed/required
• Plant Palette: Identify other plants/plantings that promote a unique identity
® • Sustainability: Materials selection, lighting and drainage
® • Maintenance: Design for long-term durability / low maintenance
® •Art: Integrate opportunities for art
• Unified vision for signage and graphics
® Park Design
Parks represent the most democratic expression of the community. Parks are places where people of all
® backgrounds come together to enjoy nature, to play, to congregate.
•
® The City of Sunny Isles has taken amazing steps to assure the people of Sunny Isles new parks for their
enjoyment. The newly completed Heritage Park adds to the list of several other parks such as Samson
® Ocean Park, Golden Shores, Senator Gwen Margolis Park, Bella Vista Park, Pier Park among others.
® Additionally, the City has acquired underutilized commercial properties and is in the process of turning them
® into public parks. We are very impressed with this visionary approach taken by the City of Sunny Isles.
Savino & Miller has been lucky in participating in the Sunny Isles Boulevard Garage/Park Project, master
® planning a new park and we will be honored in continuing to help the City in bringing this vision to fruition.
®
Savino & Miller Design Studio has been involved in many park projects in South Florida. Our scope of work
includes from Master Planning to Construction Documents and Construction Observation. Our work
® recognizes the unique location and the particular natural and built environment, the surrounding community
• needs and desires and the pragmatic goals of our clients. Currently we are working with the City of Miami
on the Museum Park Project in Downtown Miami. Additionally, we are master planning the Matheson
® Plantation Village in Crandon Park and the planting plan for some areas of Greynolds Park with Miami Dade
® County. With Miami Dade County we also completed and won the Award of Excellence in Planning in 2007
® for the Homestead Bayfront Park, one of the Miami — Dade County Heritage Parks. We have worked in
• neighborhood park projects such as Belle Isle in Miami Beach, plazas like the Town Center in Fisher Island
and regional parks like South Pointe Park in Miami Beach (FNGA Award of Excellence 2010).
® Median Design
Savino & Miller Design Studio has worked on many Median Design Projects. Our first job was the Brickell
® Avenue Median from 5th Street to 15th Road. Our design intent was to create a strong urban image for
® Brickell Avenue. Following that experience, we designed the Washington Avenue Median in Miami Beach.
® After observing how people moved and crossed the street and due to the pedestrian, slow traffic nature of
®
Savino& 7Desi.nStudio cit,M)o #12-04-02 61
S
0
