Approach and Methodology
eCurtis + Rogers Design Studio has extensive experience working with municipalities, its businesses and residents, and
® ultimately completing projects that meet the expectations of the community. In addition, Curtis + Rogers is experi-
® enced in the complete development of projects from conceptual designs, through implementation and close-out.
• It is important that the initial project goals be formulated and tested as the project proceeds in development. In that
® aspect, continuous public involvement is critical as project milestones are reached. Ultimately the goal of every proj-
ect is to meet the expectations of the client and provide enhancement of areas for user enjoyment. Understanding
® the community objectives is a critical part of this process.
Sustainability is a given reality in all of our current projects. We at Curtis + Rogers hove been on the leading front
® of this movement, having created some of the first sustainable site development projects in South Florida- the first
®
LED Gold school in Florida, the first LED Gold park facility in Miami, the first LED Gold high school in Miami-
® Dade, and numerous others in various stages of completion. Our office has also participated as part of a pioneer
project for the U.S. GSA, in developing ASLAs Sustainable Sites Initiative compliance criteria for a new office building
® in South Florida. It is for this reason which we feel it is important that we look at sustainability in all aspects of the
• project and from day one.
• Technical Quality Control
® Curtis + Rogers Design Studio has a reputation for achieving high quality projects through its concerted effort of
producing design and documents that ore delivered after a thorough review process.
® Curtis + Rogers, since inception, hos relied on an independent quality control methodology. Curtis + Rogers has
® implemented a Technical Quality Control Manual, which provides each employee with a comprehensive system
® of checklists for every aspect of production. The responsible employee reviews the checklists and ensures that the
deliverable complies with all items covered in the checklist. Once the deliverable is completed, it is passed to an
independent reviewer who once again will review the deliverable and ensure compliance with checklist and design
® and technical standards. The deliverable is redlined for corrections and returned to the responsible employee for in-
corporation of corrections prior to final delivery. Curtis + Rogers' quality control reviewers are the most experienced
professionals of the firm including Aida Curtis, a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and a
® registered landscape architect for over 30 years.
® Having worked with numerous municipalities, and successfully implemented a variety of projects throughout South
® Florida is a testament to the quality of work effort that exemplifies the firm. In the 20 years of Curtis + Rogers exis-
tence, the firm has not been subject to any claims or lawsuits.
Project Scheduling
® Curtis + Rogers Design Studio believes that a systematic communication process is essential to maintaining the
• project schedule. At each initial project kick-off meeting, the project scope, schedule and personnel roles are estab-
lished. Following this meeting, a series of coordination meetings or conference calls with the client are established to
review the work in progress, and to ensure that the project is proceeding according to the scope, desires of the client
® group and in accordance to the established schedule. Meeting notes are taken and distributed to all project partici-
® pants via email.
® In addition, the Curtis + Rogers managing principal (Ms. Lee) and the project coordinator (Mr. Green) will organize
the work into a series of critical tasks. These tasks are evaluated as to the level of effort required, the available data
® and the anticipated scheduling impacts. This work effort is distributed to all team members, and tracked periodically
® with completion dates, anticipated delays or additional tasks needed. The project manager will continually update
® the task list and track the scope and schedule modifications. The managing principal is in constant contact with all
® team members to ensure that they have all the data needed to complete their scope and that the time frame for deliv-
erables is adhered to.
® Budget Control
® Curtis + Rogers Design Studio RFQ 12-04-02 35
