O Florida Green Building Coalition. The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) is a nonprofit Florida
® Corporation dedicated to improving the built environment. Its mission is "to provide a statewide Green
Building program with environmental and economic benefits." Our landscape architects fully subscribe
O to the FGBC principles and understand their designations. We currently have several projects that have
O achieved FGBC designations or are in the review process. The FGBC awards a "Florida Local Government
® Designation," which examines the environmental stewardship of the in-house practices, regulations, and
education of cities and counties. Our landscape architects and planners can help with your green/sustainable
• projects and related needs regarding FGBC designations.
0 Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. Founded in 1999, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) is a small
O network of public and private organizations working to increase the awareness of the economic, social, and
O environmental benefits of green roof infrastructure across America. Although the current market does not
® fully appreciate many of the tangible benefits of green roofs, GRHC is striving to facilitate changes that will
bring green roof technologies to the forefront of high performance green building design, implementation and
O maintenance.
O Florida Yards & Neighborhoods Program. The Florida Yards & Neighborhoods Program (FY&N) was
O developed to address serious problems of pollution and disappearing habitats by enlisting residents in the
O battle to save our natural environment. KHA professionals are very familiar with FY&N and are willing to think
® outside the box when it comes to the conservation of native flora, fauna, and water. Proper implementation
of FY&N practices protect the natural environment around us for future generations to enjoy. This program
O provides special educational and outreach activities directed at the community to help residents reduce
O pollution and enhance shared environments by improving landscape management. FY&N encourages
® residents to water efficiently, mulch, recycle, select the least toxic pest control measures, put the right plant in
the right place, fertilize only when necessary, provide food, water and shelter for wildlife, protect surface water
O bodies (i.e., bays, rivers, streams, ponds, etc.), and minimize stormwater runoff.
