Kimley-Horn often works with our clients to identify and
develop project scopes to account for tasks that are not always readily foreseeable. Once the scope of
® work is defined, Kimley-Horn will assign experienced personnel, based on discipline needs, to the project.
• Our experts will establish a budget and an associated schedule that is designed to assist in maintaining
® budgetary costs and optimizes all phases of the project. Our technical approach also includes providing the
right resources with the appropriate level of experience to ensure cost-effective project execution without
® compromising quality.
® In presenting cost estimates and schedules to the City, Kimley-Horn's proposals will clearly reflect
appropriate staff level loading, current and future site constraints affecting the project, design or construction
• considerations, and applicable permitting or regulatory requirements to ensure that the City's priorities and
® objectives are achieved. Milestones and deliverables will also be defined and tracked against the schedule.
Past experience has proven that Kimley-Horn's professionals can provide these services within a five-day
• period upon request from the City.
®
Measuring Performance against the Plan: Maintaining project schedules, budgets and technical scope
throughout the project is critical for the City and Kimley-Horn to achieve our objectives. A well-thought-out
® plan, poorly executed, will always result in failure. Kimley-Horn is awarded additional work from 90-95% of our
® existing clients. This high percentage of repeat business is a true testament to our ability to define a scope,
® develop budgets, and execute work.
® Paramount to the success of any project is a continued partnering throughout the project to adapt as
® necessary to unforeseen circumstances. We will include critical decision-making points in our work plans so
that the project team and the City can agree upon the best course of action to keep the project on track. There
• always will be unexpected challenges unique to any given project; it is critical that an approach be developed
O that controls what can be controlled and builds in mechanisms for dealing with the unexpected.
® Managing and Administering Projects: We are prepared to commit the necessary resources to ensure
0 the success of your efforts. And with our experienced team of local resources, we have unequaled ability
• to perform on this assignment. Our local presence makes access to these resources simple. To assist
our project managers in efficient administration of projects, Kimley-Horn maintains a detailed, integrated
® management information system (MIS). This system, designed primarily to focus on schedule adherence and
® cost control, has proved to be a valuable tool.
• Schedule control begins with the preparation of a detailed schedule that includes milestone completion dates for
lO specific tasks and the overall project. We will develop for this project, as we do for every project we undertake, a
® work plan that allocates person-hour commitments by individual for each task. Twice monthly, the MIS generates
a Project Effort Report showing actual effort expended by task. This internal control allows us to make, on a
timely basis, any adjustments that may be necessary to maintain your schedule and stay within your budget.
®
Project schedules are evaluated at different frequencies depending on the magnitude of the project. We use
several different software packages, including Microsoft Project® and the Primavera® scheduling programs.
® Our project managers will prepare a project schedule at the onset of a project and will update the schedule
® as necessary to reflect the actual status of the project. An updated schedule is often included to accompany
our monthly invoices so that actual cost incurred by our clients can be cross referenced to the established
® completion schedule and billing milestones.
•
RFo No.12-03-02r Kimley-Horn
® UL300013.12o Sunny Isles Landscape Aschileclure.intltl and Accnriates,Inc.
® 4-2
