September 30th, 2015 revealed that permit timeframes in excess of 259 days. To date, coordination for many of the permits referenced in the correspondence is still on-going. In the elapsed timeframe, there has been an escalation of market prices, resulting in a cost increase for various project components including the material and services for the electrical components, maintenance of traffic, the steel bridge members and the masonry for the bridge pedestals. The proposed 1st amendment also includes an upgrade to the originally specified decorative lighting system. Ric-Man's contract price was based on installing lighting on the bridge bottom chord only. A design alternative included in Ric-Man's proposal was to utilize linear lighting on both the top and bottom chord of the bridge. Based on feedback from the City, the lighting system was upgraded to the latter. During the course of design for the bridge, design changes were required to accommodate permit comments and actual field conditions. The easement and project limits established for the southern pedestal of the bridge were based on conceptual plans. During the design process of the bridge, it was observed that a portion of the Gateway garage actually sat within the limits which had previously been theoretically established for the bridge pedestal. In order to eliminate this conflict the bridge, a redesigned of the bridge foundation is required. This 1st amendment requests a budget increase of $277,665.56 as well as an additional 371 days to attain final project completion. The new contract completion date proposed by this amendment is January 13, 2017. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The original contract value was $2,100,000.
