VII. RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> The following recommendations for Comprehensive Plan amendments are the result of <br /> the extensive feedback received in the Visioning process outlined in Chapter V. above. <br /> These recommendations, as well as the updated data and analysis and December 2014 <br /> Evaluation and Appraisal Letter, are the foundation for the proposed Comprehensive Plan <br /> amendments in Appendix A. <br /> A. Future Land Use Element Recommendations <br /> • Update dates and references <br /> • Promote compact mixed-use development as the preferred form of development <br /> and redevelopment in the Town Center <br /> • Neighborhood protection and compatibility guidelines as part of the development <br /> review process <br /> • Implement programs to promote environmentally-friendly design and low impact <br /> development techniques <br /> • Replace or update calls for beachfront redevelopment with a focus on continued <br /> implementation of the Urban Village and Town Center strategies <br /> • Improve climate change resiliency and energy efficiency of buildings and <br /> infrastructure <br /> • Protect local natural systems (i.e. beach, shorelines) sensitive to potential climate. <br /> change <br /> • Defined gateways and neighborhood entrances <br /> • Design and landscape treatments for new development and redevelopment <br /> • Public art and beautification projects <br /> • Maintain/enhance view corridors <br /> • Active design guidelines to enhance the built environment to promote physical <br /> activity and health <br /> B.
