APPLICATION No. 8 <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br /> INFRASTRUCTURE ELEMENT AMENDMENTS <br /> 1. Amend Policy 3A. as follows: <br /> The City will coordinate with service providers to ensure that public facility improvements <br /> will be evaluated for funding in accordance with the following criteria: <br /> 1) Improvements which are necessary to protect the health, safety and environmental <br /> integrity of the community, consistent with the policies of this Plan and applicable <br /> federal, State and County regulatory requirements. <br /> 2) Improvements that are necessary to meet existing deficiencies in capacity or in <br /> performance. These include the retrofit of deteriorating facilities that fail or <br /> threaten to fail to meet health, safety or environmental standards. <br /> 3) Improvements that extend service to previously unserved developed areas. <br /> 4) Improvements that have been identified in adopted functional plans and address <br /> system details which are beyond the scope of the comprehensive plan for <br /> wastewater and potable water facilities, and are consistent with the goals, <br /> objectives and policies of the comprehensive plan. <br /> 5) Cost-effective improvements to expand capacity, maximize operational efficiency, <br /> and increase productivity. <br /> 6) Improvements to adapt existing infrastructure or provide new infrastructure that is <br /> resilient to the impacts of potential climate change, including sea level rise, more <br /> frequent flooding, higher temperatures and more frequent storm events. <br /> 2. Add a new Infrastructure Element Monitoring Measures Section as follows: <br /> The following Monitoring Measures will be utilized by the City in its ongoing planning <br /> programs and Comprehensive Plan Evaluation and Appraisal process to measure <br /> progress in achieving the objectives of the Infrastructure Element: <br /> Monitoring Measure(s): <br /> 2. Achievement of Level of Service standards. <br /> 3. Policy Implementation Status. <br /> A-36 <br />
