PGA Bascule Bridge PGA Boulevard, West Palm Beach, FL Field Supervisor/ Senior Party Chief for a project involving the partial demolition, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of an existing bridge crossing the Intracoastal Waterway in West Palm Beach, Florida. The existing bridge consisted of a two-lane eastbound structure adjacent to a four-lane westbound structure, with shared mechanical and electrical components. Over time, this caused significant maintenance challenges for the client, and led to routine mechanical malfunctions. The solution was to demolish the older two-lane structure and reconstruct it with three lanes to even the loading on each bridge. Demolition activities, as well as reconstruction activities for bascule pier and bascule leaf components, were modeled in 3-D to plan each construction activity. New machinery and electrical equipment were installed, and other components were upgraded. The westbound bridge received minor structural modifications and repairs.
