Prior to joining Bowman <br />Consulting, Mr. Barnes was employed at the South Florida Water Management District <br />(SWFMD) for 38 years managing the Survey and Mapping Section. During his time at <br />SFWMD Mr. Barnes was ultimately responsible for surveying the entire SFWMD’s 16 <br />counties of responsibility. <br />SFWMD Vertical Datum Upgrade Project <br />Mr. Barnes was responsible for project oversight and coordination on this project. He <br />was also the project sponsor for converting the SFWMD from NGVD 29 to NAVD <br />88 Datum. The project included establishing NAVD 88 values at approximately 2,200 <br />water staging sites, the installation of staff gauges and the recalibration of the sensors <br />at each site. Extensive coordination with the United States Geological Survey and the <br />United States Army Corps of Engineers was required. <br />SFWMD Kissimmee River Revitalization Project <br />Mr. Barnes was responsible for project oversight and coordination on this project. He <br />completed boundary, topographic and hydrographic surveys to locate acquisition lines <br />based storm events throughout the Kissimmee River Valley and the Kissimmee Chain <br />of Lakes. He generated legal descriptions and sketches to be used for title transfer, and <br />also provided expert witness testimony for condemnation hearings. <br />SFWMD Structures 65, 65A, 65C, 65D & 65E Shoal/Erosion Inspection Project, <br />Okeechobee County, Florida <br />Mr. Barnes was the Project Manager/Surveyor on this project. He completed hydro- <br />graphic and topographic surveys to document canal shoaling and bank erosion after a <br />major storm event utilizing sonar and GPS technology. The surveys were submitted to <br />the United States Army Corps of engineers for their review. <br />Page 32
