<br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH 2007 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />EVALUATION AND APPRAISAL REPORT (EAR)-BASED AMENDMENTS <br />APPLICATION NO.9 <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />CONSERVATION ELEMENT AMENDMENTS <br /> <br />1. Add a new Policy under Objective 1 as follows: <br /> <br />Policy lK. The City shall encourage the use of transit or non-motorized transportation options to the <br />maximum extent feasible as a strategy to conserve energy resources and improve air quality. <br /> <br />2. Add a new Policy under Objective 2 as follows: <br /> <br />Policy 2D. The City shall review the water supply facility workplans of Miami-Dade County and North <br />Miami Beach, as they are adopted and/or periodically updated, in order to identify alternative proiects that will <br />increase its water supply, and shall coordinate with Miami-Dade County and North Miami Beach, as <br />appropriate, in the implementation of these proiects. In addition, the City shall prepare a Ten- Year Water <br />Supply Facilities Workplan in accordance with State requirements. <br /> <br />3. Add a new Policy under Objective 2 as follows: <br /> <br />Policy 2E. The City shall coordinate, as appropriate, with Miami-Dade County to assist in efforts to achieve <br />its Five Year Water Efficiency Plan goal of 155 gallons per capita per day. <br /> <br />4. Add a new Policy under Objective 4 as follows: <br /> <br />Policy 4D. The City shall enforce the removal of non native vegetation in order to restore or enhance <br />degraded natural areas. <br /> <br />5. Add a new Objective 5 as follows: <br /> <br />Obiective 5 <br /> <br />The City shall deflect increasing regional and community public demands for use of shoreline environments <br />that impact biological and hydrological functions including wetlands and dune systems by providing additional <br />active and passive open space and recreational uses within the upland areas of the City west of Collins A venue <br />and east of North Bay Road. <br /> <br />6. Add a new Policy under new Objective 5, as follows: <br /> <br />Policy 5A. Acquire additional lands and budget funds for improvements of public open space and <br />recreational facilities west of Collins Avenue that will provide passive and active recreation opportunities for <br />residents comparable to leisure use of shoreline environments such as gardens, recreational pathways, picnic <br />areas, open play space and shaded sitting areas. <br /> <br />32 <br />
