Inlroduchn <br />The Telrad DIGITAL family includes two end -to -end <br />digital telephone systems each of which brings your <br />office into the era of full integration and simultaneous <br />transmission of voice and data. Combining advanced <br />technology with simplicity of operation, the DIGITAL <br />systems are capable of meeting all your data and <br />communications requirements for years to come. <br />With a low cost, start -up configuration of four outside <br />lines and 16 stations provided by just two printed <br />circuit cards, the DIGITAL system can grow to 96 <br />extensions and 48 outside lines (or a maximum of 128 <br />ports combined) for the DIGITAL KEY BX system or a <br />maximum of 254 extensions and 144 outside lines (or a <br />maximum of 384 ports combined) for the DIGITAL 400 <br />system. <br />The DIGITAL system is built with you in mind. <br />Therefore, it has been designed with a smooth <br />migration path from the smallest system to the largest. <br />The same peripheral equipment and stations are <br />supported on all of the DIGITAL family of systems. This <br />protects the customer's investment and ensures easy <br />expansion of your telephone system up to the largest <br />configuration of the DIGITAL family of systems. <br />The DIGITAL systems incorporate many exciting new <br />features, such as Electronic Business Card, Uniform Call <br />Distribution (UCD), PC .Attendant Console, Caller <br />identification, Direct Inward Dialing (DID), editable text <br />messaging, flexible programming of personal and <br />system speed dial directories, multiple station <br />appearance, directory number (DN) button, automatic <br />redial and auto dialer (scanner). <br />In addition, the DIGITAL systems provide optional <br />software packages that supports the ACD (Automatic <br />Call Distribution) system, which routes and distributes <br />incoming calls, and the ACD S. T.A.R. call reporting <br />system. <br />IE 0 <br />l <br />The system configuration is contained in a replaceable <br />software memory cartridge attached to the Main <br />Processor card (DIPD). Software updates and the <br />addition of optional software applications are <br />accomplished by simply changing the memory <br />cartridge. <br />The system is programmed through a menu - driven, <br />user - friendly program running on a personal computer <br />(PC). The PC is connected to the system either locally by <br />cable, or from a remote site, via a modem. Programming <br />can be performed online for immediate implementation, <br />(without disrupting system operation), or offline, for <br />later downloading. <br />The DIGITAL systems are provided with a brand new <br />family of voice /data digital telephone sets characterized <br />by an attractive man - machine interface, for simple <br />opergtion. The eight proprietary digital sets range from <br />an economical electronic single line telephone, to the <br />sophisticated Executive set which features an expanded <br />display, sofikey operation, dual color LED indicators, <br />electronic volume and contrast control, offhook voice <br />announce with handsfree answerback, and many other <br />features. <br />An .Add -on unit, attachable to the DIGITAL sets, <br />provides one -touch dialing of up 10 128 numbers. The <br />DIGITAL systems also support industry standard 500 <br />and 2500 type SLTs. <br />Telrad's,proprietary Integrated Voice Mail /Automated <br />Attendant package - TelradlVM - provides a range of <br />sophisticated automated attendant and voice mail <br />features that totally integrate with the DIGITAL <br />system's software and user interface. For example, the <br />number of voice messages recorded in your mailbox <br />appears on your station display, and you may access <br />these messages at the touch of it station button, record <br />conversations and forward, copy and distribute <br />messages to user groups. <br />Introduction • 5 <br />
