Cummings, Inc. of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. <br />The selections were conducted according to Department of Management Services rule, pursuant to <br />Chapter 60D-5.008 which authorizes Building Construction to select and enter into a contract with <br />James A. Cummings, Inc. <br />James A. Cummings, Inc. was selected over the three other short-listed contractors for the <br />following reasons. The team had completed a similar project for the Town of Davie, with Spillis <br />Candela A/E and DMS managed. The team that would work on the project communicated well <br />with each other, which gave the committee a sense of confidence. The Cummings team showed <br />how they worked together with Spillis Candela on the Town of Davie and on other similar projects <br />such as Adventura, a similar project which was on schedule and in budget. <br />Their approach to cost control was "real market pricing" which takes the pricing to the streets and <br />tells what construction cost are today and not historic data which is just that. <br />Our negotiations were successful and the fee was inline with similar projects of this size and <br />duration. <br />w <br />Rory W raper <br />
