Inc., attached
as Exhibit "A", to perform an economic development study for the City of
Sunny Isles Beach.
REASONS
Economic development is a major revitalization tool that can greatly assist the
City of Sunny Isles Beach in its efforts to attract quality development to the
area. In order to create the proper development climate for retail, commercial
and entertainment related activities certain information must be gathered and
analyzed.
The proposal submitted by the Chesapeake Group, Inc. identifies four tasks
that will be undertaken: a survey of retail and related service operations, a
survey of hotel and motel operations, a survey of residents (full and part-time)
and preparation of a report summarizing methodologies and findings. The fee
for these services shall not exceed $9,750 and the study shall be finished
within a twelve week period.
On November 18, 1999, the Commission authorized the Director of
Community Planning and Development to negotiate for a number of basic
planning studies, one of which is this economic development analysis. Under
the City of Sunny Isles Beach's procurement policy as defined in Ordinance
No. 97-10 certain professional services agreements are exempt from the
competitive bid procedures. This agreement for professional services falls
within that category.
g2
