FOR
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution awarding a bid to and
entering into contract with Lukes' Landscaping, Inc., ("Lukes"') for park/median/right-of-way
maintenance.
REASONS
The City is in need of maintenance services for its parks, medians, and right-of-ways. Therefore, the
City issued and advertised Request for Proposals #01-09-01 for said services. In that this is a vast
and comprehensive contract, a pre -bid tour was scheduled to familiarize prospective bidders with the
areas to be maintained. Six (6) potential bidders attended the pre -bid tour and eleven (11) potential
bidders received the bid package. However, Lukes' was the only responsive, responsible bid
received.
Lukes' submitted a sealed bid in the amount of Four Hundred Seventy -Six Thousand Dollars
(S476,000.00) for a two-year period, with a schedule of unit prices for other items that might be
needed. Staff is proposing that the City enter into a Parks/Median/Right-of-Way Maintenance
Agreement in an annual amount not to exceed Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) with
Lukes'. Also, the City will have the option to extend the contract for up to two (2) additional two (2)
year terms at the current, existing price.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The City has utilized Lukes' for such landscaping services as interim landscape maintenance, tree
trimming, and planting services with much success. The additional services bid as unit prices
includes flowering plants, mulch, and heavy equipment to be utilized in the City, should a hurricane
occur.
CJR/pw
Lukes'- Parks. %led, Row Nlmc Agenda M mo
Agenda Item
Date / /- /3-O_
