<br />Section 3. Members and Terms. The Committee shall consist of seven (7) members, who <br />shall serve without compensation, to be appointed as follows: <br /> <br />a. All members of the Committee shall be residents of the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach. <br /> <br />b. Each member of the City Commission shall appoint one member on the <br />committee. The names shall be submitted to the City Clerk within fourteen <br />(14) days from the date of this Resolution and the committee shall be <br />constituted no later than one month from the date of this Resolution. The <br />Mayor, with the approval of the City Commission, shall have the authority to <br />appoint two (2) additional members to the Committee. The Committee shall <br />consist of seven (7) members. <br /> <br />c. The term of office of each member shall be three (3) official years, except <br />that the initial appointments of three (3) members shall be for one (1) year; <br />two members shall be for two (2) years and two (2) members shall be for <br />three (3) years. <br /> <br />d. Membership may consist of professionals in four disciplines; Law <br />Enforcement, Engineering, Emergency Services and Education and members <br />may possess the resources and skills to directly impact the traffic-safety <br />problems of the City. Membership shall also be composed of at least two (2) <br />persons with disabilities. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Appointment of Chair and Vice Chair. <br /> <br />a. In accordance with Section 2.2 of the Charter of the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach, the Mayor shall appoint the Chair and Vice Chair of the Committee. <br /> <br />Section 4. <br /> <br />Meetings and Minutes. <br /> <br />This Committee shall be subject to the Sunshine Laws and, as such shall maintain minutes of all <br />meetings, showing the vote of each member on each question and shall give proper notice as to <br />meeting times and dates. The meetings shall be held at the call of the Chairperson. <br /> <br />Section 5. <br /> <br />Powers and Duties. <br /> <br />The Committee shall have the power to investigate existing traffic conditions and to make <br />recommendations to the City Commission concerning traffic regulation, traffic laws, parking <br />laws and all other matters relating to the flow of traffic. The Committee shall provide input as to <br />the use of funds received from Miami-Dade County for disabled parking fines and assist in the <br />preparation of public awareness programs for persons with disabilities. The Committee will <br />undertake the development of projects and activities and serve as a resource to any and all <br />communities, local, state and federal government agencies and roadway users in an effort to <br />reduce traffic accidents, injuries and fatalities. <br /> <br />Traffic Safety Committee <br />LMD:ch <br />12/13/01 -- 6:07 PM <br /> <br />2 <br />
