Dannheisser, City Attorney
Richard Brown- Morilla, City Clerk
Approval of Interlocal Agreement with Miami -Dade County for Web Site Development
RECOMMENDATION:
The City's web site will be developed in phases with the first phase to include designing the portal
(entry into the web site), publishing much of the City's static information and establishing links to
other helpful governmental (county, state, Federal) and informational sites (see Proposal forE-
government @ the City of Sunny Isles Beach attached).
Staff recommends that the City Commission approve the resolution to enter into an Interlocal
Agreement with Miami -Dade County for development of the first phase of the City's web site.
REASONS:
During 2000 -2001 the County designed, developed and implemented a web portal (miamidade.gov)
that received nationwide recognition for ease of use, intuitive design and functionality. Miami -Dade
County was rated fourth out of 400 in a nationwide competition conducted by the Center for Digital
Government, which focuses on state and local government web sites and is considered the `Oscars'
in the government web arena.
In partnership with the County the City will:
• benefit from the County's experience and expertise in offering e- government services and
information to its residents, visitors and business community.
• join with the County in offering seamless service to the public which is a challenge to a
community receiving services from the local city, county, state and the federal government.
Agenda Item
Date
