As you are aware, South Downtown is a complex area made up of diverse
neighborhoods, a large manufacturing and industrial center, two new professional sports
stadiums, and an exhibition center. Your recommendations to coordinate existing public
and private sector law enforcement services will improve public safety in this vibrant
area of Seattle.

~~~,;
The South Downtown Foundation has moved rapidly to implement your
recommendations including the establishment of a highly visible Seattle Police
Neighborhood Office in Pioneer Square, the creation of a Security Coordinator position
to coordinate area-wide public safety improvements, and the forging of an innovative
public/private partnership with the Seattle Police Department to provide supplemental
police services in South Downtown. The implementation of other recommendations is in
the works including lighting improvements and a pilot CCTV program.
Your ex~ertise ~nd imp~eme~tatio~.assista~ce' were iqstrurnental in the Foundation's,
-"~--.'- 1- f-""""'n-" ~""'l'-/~n""""p""'~~._~'"," t~ _~I_C.
