Adequately protect utilities from damage, remove or <br />relocate as indicated, specified or required. Remove, plug or cap inactive or abandoned <br />utilities encountered in excavation. Record location of active utilities. <br /> <br />1.06 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> <br />PART 2 <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Requirements of all applicable building codes and other public agencIes having <br />jurisdiction upon the work. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Primary emphasis should be given to the aesthetic appearance and functioning of <br />berming and swales, as directed by the Landscape Architect or Owner's Representative. <br />The Contractor shall employ skilled personnel and any necessary equipment to ensure <br />that finish grading is smooth, aesthetically pleasing, drains well, and is ideal for <br />receiving sod and plant materials. <br /> <br />MATERIALS <br /> <br />2.01 TOP SOIL <br /> <br />PART 3 <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />In areas to receive turf, rough grade shall be 6 inches below finished grades, verify that <br />soil contains enough organic matter to support and encourage rooting of sod. Fill is to be <br />fine, compacted satisfactory fill material with no rocks larger than 2-inches. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Both surface and subsurface before and after fill operations shall be checked to confirm <br />that percolation/compaction levels meet the needs ofthe proposed planting for that area. <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />12 inches of 80-20 Topsoil mix shall be used on all turf and planting areas, it shall be <br />free from debris, sod, biodegradable materials, and other deleterious materials. The <br />Contractor shall ensure that all subsurface soil has sufficient percolation and surface <br />drainage to support grasses and plant material and that compaction shall be no greater <br />than 85% and no less than 75%. <br /> <br />EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 EXCAVATION <br /> <br />06/05 <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Excavate where necessary to obtain subgrades, percolation and surface drainage as <br />required. <br /> <br />B. Materials to be excavated are unclassified. <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />Remove entirely any existing obstructions after approval by the Landscape Architect's or <br />Owner's Representative. <br /> <br />D.
